omg i hope someone out there can help!!!!

actinic crashed then said oh there were some duplicates which were deleted and a list has been created which i checked and only has about 50 in it. As for the rest of my site i checked the database and its gone. OM*G!! It wiped about 3/4's of my site which is huge...any ideas? my back up is a month old too (. Anyway to recover from the live site?

You can't recover form a live site. Make a database backup then try a compact and repair in MSAccess. Otherwsie you may have to revert to your last backup and carry on from there.

what happened was actinic said there was some corruption and has obviously gone and deleted 2/3 of the database instead of leaving it corrupted and letting me try fix it....am at my whits end with this company. Problem after problem. It wouldnt be such a huge issue just ill loose a good months worth of work and the pricing is going to be screwed up. I may as well start again its that much work ( Ive got ttech support so ill ring and blast em tomorrow

This file contains duplicate products which have become disconnected from their original owner.

These have been deleted as it is not possible to repair them automatically.

The file contains product references which are corrupt, but may give some clue as to where this data came from in order for you to manually rebuild the data.
The full data for the duplicates can be found in the table 'tempOrphanDuplicateQuery'.

This table will be deleted when you restart the product. if you want to retain it for future use, you should rename the table in the database.
GUess What?? theres nothing in there ((

this problem was common in early versions of v8 when the product I'd was changed in v8. I'm assuming you are one one of these early versions.

Do you have any sort of backups at all? Even if you have an older version of the site, then you can export from that and then import to your current site.

When you update your version of Actinic, unless you tell it not to, Actinic will make a backup for you that includes you ActinicCatalog.mdb file, the backups are in the c:\program files\Actinic V8\Backup...

Your site design and you orders are contained in the database, so don't just copy the old db into your current setup, make a copy of the existing corrupt one. Then copy in the old one, then export the products to file, then copy back the old one, compact and repair it and import the products. Then compact and repair it again.

hate to say it but ......

I had this same issue, luckily for me it was only 1,500 items, but with pictures, descriptions, thumbnails, prices, etc etc to put back in I was NOT happy about it.

I spent four days trying to find a solution, and 2 more days crying !!

There is no solution as far as I found, I had to do it all again, and now I back up my actinic every morning and every time I add an item, and every time I sneeze !

Geez Belinda 1,500 products must have been a killer, i bet you do more snapshots than anyone now. Hope you store at least one off site too in case of fire or robbery.
