I'm brave I'm sitting on 8.5.1 - i downloaded 8.5.2 as i was waiting for the improvements in speed which were disapointing for the site i had in mind, I also broke 852 in 20 mins so reverted and not moved since.

I'm not even considering upgrading any client sites for at least 6 months as software releases always have problems IMO
Pre V8 i was always 2 patches behind, because of the revolution that was v8 i was upgrading regularly from 8.00 to 8.5.0 - then i stopped.

i've only downloaded v9 to check out the new designs, but since then trashed my laptop so its not even installed now.

I have installed and uninstalled v9 four times now (cleaned registry etc too) and still can't get it to work. All is fine until I make the obvious mistake of daring to try to look at an order ...
same with me, it's weird the crash only occurs in the Order mode. It's really annoying though as it happens every few minutes.

We too have experianced may similar issues.
The concren is with all of these crashes we are spending more time backing up , taking snapshots then actually addding content and features to the site, rather unproductive - not what we really has signed up for.

What service pack level is your vista at - it should really be at 1 because there were some database improvements made there that effect access and therefore Actinic. They could well be causing the problems you are seeing.

Interestingly I was having crashes and, having read this, went back to my v9 test site and took an educated guess on what code might be causing the problem (if indeed it was some code). Without going into detail, moving said code from where I had embedded it in an Actinic layout into it's own brand new layout, cured the crashes!

So, as Jan says, you should probably get the dump file off to Actinic!
                Cheers

strange that, as support told me i was the only one with such issues.

I'm gonna try that HTML thing that someone mentioned. I sent the DMP files to support but they said they couldn't replicate the problem.

Someone mentioned changing to XP, thanks for the advise but i bought a new laptop from HP with Vista already on it. I don't want further complications by taking off the operating system and putting another one on, i'm just not that technically gifted

I was able to crash the program in a dozen different ways but when this was investigated, it was all down to one particular bit of custom HTML on my site. Once I changed this the crashes stopped.
what was the HTML that you had to change if you don't mind me asking?
                    I'm seriously stuck here.

It could be anything and differs each time depending on what you were doing. I had a client corrupt a site due to the SKY remote control inserting random hashes "#" into whatever was being done in Actinic at the time

You need to try and track back on what mods you have done. If that fails reinstate backups and see if there is a point at which it occurred ... this can be a real pain but often one of few solutions (I have had to foll back 3 months to cure a database issues support could not fix)
