Multi-user Very Slow

just upgraded our 2 user system to the revised 9.02 and sync server problems are fix

Problem is it to slow to use, sometimes needing to wait over 5 mins for an order to come up.

Dont think it's a problem with software but need help to resolve.

we did our inital site using old xp machines and seemed to work fine and fast apart from the sync server thing but since changing pc's to vista ones , now to slow.

The main pc holding actinic is very fast with no problems just the slave pc connecting to it with the problem

tried: link via a mapped drive
link via network -> pc -> shared folder

both very slow

have you got SP1 installed on the vista machines, it fixes a number of issues with sloooooooooooooooooooooooow networking

(Access version)Due to known Issues with Microsoft Access databases becoming corrupted when they are shared from a Vista machine, it is strongly recommended that the shared database is installed on an earlier version of Windows.

You can also turn off all of the Vista display bells and whistles, this speeds things up no end as well. There are details on how to do this here :

update and installing the sp1 update now, 450mb download thats one hell of an update !!!! + takes over an hour to install.

tried switching server pc to an old xp machine and actinic works much faster, this is before I installed the sp1 update.

will test out to see which works best but looks like i am going to have to swich back to xp for the time being.

Does anyone else running multi-user do so under vista or is it just us with the problem.



Is there are recommend system setuop for running business plus as I cannot find one on actinic site

Multi User slow

I've got Multi user set up on Windows Server 2003. The client machine is XP pro.

Actinic 9.0.2.

I have the same issue with speed. On the client machine you can select a product and the details pane will grey out for anywhere between 5 - 10 mins. This was running fine until about 2 weeks ago.

I'm not handling the IT for the client but I've checked with their IT provider and they advise both machines have auto updates on. Has anyone come across this or a possible fix?

Yep... running XP Pro and Vista... irritatingly slow at times.

Running main actinic database on main computer with ethernet links to three other machines all on XP

Main machine say change site takes about 15 seconds butother machines take abot 1 min maybe more

Would you say it's safe to upgrade live site to 9.03? really need my workstations to be able to access database a lot quicker that it is at present

Yes I am having even worse problems. I'm a Newbie - bought Business Plus 2 weeks ago plus 1 extra user licence. Bought 2 x brand new VISTA laptops.

I just keep getting Synch Server Failed - restart Actinic everytime I try and make a change on User machine. Actinic Support is currently working on prob - its been passed to the Development people on Monday.

I will keep eye on this post would would appreciate any snippets of info (eg the SP1 thing). It's really helpful for people like me. Good luck !
