V9 is much better in terms of starters guides but as with everytihing people don't read them and by the time they do it's too late.
I've mentioned before that IMO there should be controls on the software that slowly unlock it eg you start with only being able to use the themes, you then are able to unlock the design pane and finally you can modify the scripts or activate the dreamweaver extension.
For the new user actinic is far to complex and open which means it's easy to break it. Actinic have stated that there was a huge leap in support requests when v8 came out. Obviously much was due to the huge changes but most nowwill be due to people stuffing it up. Previous versions had the complex designbits hidden away so by the time people found them they knew the software basics much better.
Also snapshots should be made mandatory in a similar way that compressing the database is in v9

It's probably worth reminding everyone that v9.0.3 has some changes that will speed up both generation and upload for some (although not all) sites. It should be noted that to gain maximum advantage a particular Perl module must be installed at the web site. Actinic hosting and (hopefully) Actinic specialist hosting providers will have already installed this. See http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=44812.
It's partly because of these changes that v9.0.3 has taken so long, as they have had some knock-on effects that have had to be fixed.
v9.0.3 is currently on private beta, so we have already concluded that it was ready and after extensive testing had fixed everything that we felt prevented it from shipping. Of course, this next round of testing is likely to find some more issues, the most serious of which will be fixed before it goes on general beta.
So to answer the question when will v9.0.3 come out, the answer is "as soon as possible". There is no higher priority for Actinic.
