    Checkout Very very slow

    Hi Guys,

We have just started to move our websites from our old linux server to our new windows 2008 machine - the first site we are moving is http://www.pro-tactical.com

(excuse the design i am in the middle of messing with themes)

If you add a product to the cart and then click checkout it is VERY VERY slow - we have actually jus received an order, so someone has waited it out but obviously this is a major problem

Does anyone have any ideas what could cause it - SSL is on the same server so its not that its trying to connect to another server or anything like that

    Any help would be appreciated

    Off topic perhaps but...
Why not to a new linux server or do you have a specific need for windows?

we needed a windows server as we use it for other things as well - the linux one we used was just onsite the windows one is in a datacentre so should actually be a lot faster

Does it pass the network test and is the host a proven actinic host. Please don't say it's Fasthosts.

No its poundhosts - our dedicated server so i can make any changes needed to the actual server - i have never set actinic up on a windows server before though

It passes the network test fine and the checkout does eventually work, it just takes ages

Try a network test first and make sure your host is not having any issues. Not on fasthosts is it?

Also turn of GA and try (obviously if you have it on)

ah, and now its as fast as i'd expect it to be..

so Google Analytics in Actinic is buggy or Google themselves is slowing things down?

What is the site URL? Is it wellgosh dot com?
If so the checkout is still very slow compared to the rest of the site.

                            it is wellgosh, yeah.

ive added GA script myself just now to see if it made a different (instead of Actinics own GA setting) - which made the cart grind to 10% speed again, so ive taken it off and reuploading (and it has just completed).

and yes, its still very slow.

                            it hangs on: http://www.wellgosh.com/cgi-bin/ca00...%2fca002009.pl

no idea if anyone can decipher what might be the cause?

This is more than likely due to the hosting.
