Use label printers to print address labels

Ok I know and use the Intergrated labels which are a good solution, But just looking at any way to be able to get the delivery address from the point when the invoice is printed to go to a seperate large label printer

What we are trying to do is use a much larger format label which would include a PPI as well as a marketing message

So basically when you printed the invoice to one printer it also routed automatically the delivery address to a different printer at the same time

I don't think this can be done but if you don't use the packing list then you can use that to print the address to a separate label printer.

You can also create your own reports that could potentially print out large address labels for the days parcels. I've never used it though.

Perhaps readdressing what the problem really is might be an idea. Is it because the labels itself is too small and not seen on the parcel or is the font point size too small for the delivery people to read?

This is my main concern with the integrated labels, a tiny label on a massive parcel just isn't what you'd do if writing it out yourself. Most reasonably large parcels seem to get half or full A4 sized label. Maybe some room for improvement or additions to the range. It's important that a driver can see things clearly in the back of a van IMO.

Problem is of course if you do a mixture of small and large items then.

Basically I would like to print out about twice the width and twice the depth to make them stand out more


BUT BUT BUT the big thing is that Whilst I would be happy to do say one more click on a button to print it out, but dont want to really add anything else to the process of dispatch

Pick the goods
Print invoice
Fill the pack and place label on front

If you can find a way to stick an A4 page onto the parcel as the 'label' then the invoice or packing list could be changed to include a subsequent page with the large address info on it.

Could it print A5 size so you could just fold the A4 in half? Sounds like a very good idea if possible.

It's important that a driver can see things clearly in the back of a van IMO.

Most delivery drivers pay scant regard to any other label on a package other than the one containing their companies barcode in my experience.
The majority are adept at ignoring red & white 'Fragile' or 'Handle with care' tape as well

We use apc who provide an online system which you add your delivery to and it prints out it's own barcoded label which the drivers use.

We only use the peal off labels when it gets really busy to track the orders prior to them getting thier apc label.

The idea of printing an additional page with the address on is a good one. You would need to put it into into a clear envelope.

If you don't need the whole page for the invoice there are larger label sizes.

I am sure something similar could be done with Jan's 'One Stop' things. But we have not been able to move away from cut and pasting the address from an email into a label programme, using ctrl v it is actually is very quick. You could easily set up a marketing message on this system.

There is an option to print a label report in addition to the other standard reports in my One Stop Order Processing product - but you also need a custom label report (Duncan could probably write one of these for you) to make it operational.

Lots of people replace the packing list to do this - if you do this and then also use a label printer then it works very nicely and you can print from Actinic. I don't really like solutions that use Avery label type solutions (except for one label per page) because you can't control which label to start printing on from Actinic so there is a lot of waste.

The problem with using a larger label is that you usually end up printing over more than one page then and so wasting label paper. Even with the label sizes we use people often contact us to have their reports trimmed down a bit because they are printing over more than one page to often.

If you need a larger label you are much better off printing to a label printer.

Is there any middle route on this

I dont really need the benifits of one Stop and quite honestly it gets rather expensive for our 5 computers just for this feature

I also understand it would bite into your intergrated paper sales

Really just like a button or pulldown so that after i print the invoice, i click and print a label on a seperate printer

Or even just highlight the delivery address so that I can cut and print

Happy to pay a reasonable price (cough splutter etc)
