ok basicly on my website at the moment when you go through to the final checkout (where you enter your card details) its got the checkout applet but it isnt inside a template its on a white background. Is there a way to move that into my template with out corrupting the system, I thought I could just copy the applets code and paste it inside the template however my manager tells me that will corrupt the checkout process

The applet died a death around 4 years ago, i suggest you get up to date on payment methods, you are somewhat behind today's marketplace if you intend using that. It's not PCI compliant for starters, not forgetting how darn awful the bloody thing is. It only exists for legacy reasons, seriously stop using it.
