Daft question (we're reduced to them) but you've checked that your homepage is called index.html, I presume?

There does seem to be something not quite right. TBH, I'd log an email support ticket (or phone, if you have Cover)
      Yep, homepage is index.html
I've logged a request here: http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm - is this the best place to get a reply?

I'm picking this site up on behalf of a client who I'm pretty sure doesn't have cover. What should I expect in terms of response times? Thanks again...

        Online support is fine.
TBH, I have cover and I still tend to use the email support anyway (that's my aversion to phones, more than anything, though!)

They're usually pretty swift (24 hours or so) to pick up a ticket, IME

Is it possible to hide a fragment in a section page then drag it to a Brochure page? Bug perhaps?

AFAIK this would be visibility settings on the fragment, but only if customer accounts are being used, but I'm feeling my way around unchartered territory here....

Ok I think I've found the solution to this having suffered this problem myself. The best thing to do is as follows:

            - delete and purge the 'hidden' fragments from beneath the home page icon in the content tree (or you could just move them elsewhere within your content tree if you prefer and then move them back at the end)
            - do a site backup and then close Actinic (purely in case the steps beyond this cause the database to corrupt but it shouldn't do)
            - go into the Site1 folder (or whatever your site folder is called)
            - open up ActinicCatalog.mdb
            - go into the 'BrochurePages' table
            - you should see your main product sections listed here and a column called something like 'visibility' where all the values are set to zero. The sections that you have hidden will be set to -1 (if you have any hidden) but you should see that your home page is also set to -1 despite the fact you didn't request it to be hidden! Change this to zero and then save and close the database.
            - reopen Actinic and re-add your fragments below your home page icon and you should then find it works as it should.

Obviously you shouldn't have to do the above but it appears to be a bug. I'm thinking it could be that if you ever untick the 'use this as homepage' option it sets the database to hidden and then no matter how many times you re-tick the box the home page never re-appears so you need to do the above to sort it out.

            Hope this helps.
            Cheers
            Stuart

Further to my last post I'd like to ask David if you've still got problems with this? I noticed by going to your website that it still says under construction. If it's still a problem try this method and see what effect it has. You might also want to consider putting a htaccess file in place to automatically forward people from your home page into the site itself.

I do this quite for quite a lot of sites I've worked on. It's really quick and simple. It's just a text file you create in notepad that you save as .htaccess and in the file you just say where you want to move people from and to. If you need any help with this let me know and i'll post in more detail.
              Cheers

Stuart, this worked a charm! The site now creates an index.html page and the once hidden fragments under the homepage are now visible! Perfect.

However, I'm still not getting the site to upload correctly. I've comepletely removed everything from the sever and done a 'Website Purge and refresh' (having also changed my CGI Script Number) and it uploads the whole site to the _root. Nothing in the acatalog file except for the html pages. This obviousy causes scripting errors and missing pages (see http://www.authenticindianspice.com/index_new.html)... any ideas?

                  Hi David,

Glad the workaround worked for you. There's almost always a way of doing things such as this, you just have to be careful and make sure you do a backup, particularly when making changes directly in the database. Archive your backups by date too.

On your new issue I would say it sounds like your FTP settings could be slightly incorrect and it could well be your script ID number. Why did you change that by the way? Did someone advise you to do so? I'd recommend you go to 'Web' then 'Network Setup' and click the 'Test' button. If it returns any errors then this is likely to be what is causing your current problem.

Give it a try and post back on here and we can take it from there.
                  Cheers

                    Hi Stuart,

I didn't actually thank you for your post earlier, so albeit belated I am very grateful! ;-)
I took the advice of updating the script ID number from the following thread: http://community.actinic.com/showthr...t=36592&page=2. You will see my post towards the end, but effectively I have tried the following:
                    1. Website Purge and Refresh
                    2. Deleting entries in the 'FileList' table from ActinicCatalog.mdb
                    3. Compact Database
                    4. Changing the 'CGI script ID'
                    5. And finally tried removing everything (via FTP) and doing a Website Refresh

...and still no joy. I note that when trying to access any scripts the two main errors are:
                    1. Error: Error opening configuration file ../acatalog/prompt.fil. No such file or directory
                    2. 404 looking for http://www.authenticindianspice.com/...n/ca000006.plx (current CGI script ID = 9)

Interestingly, the site I inherited has never had any errors when doing "Network Setup > Test". I've looked through the advanced user guide and what I have mirrors their example... (with personalised settings of course)...

                      Hi David,

Ok well it does seem that you've explored quite a few avenues and still no luck so to me I'd say that given the following facts:

                      - none of the scripts work on your website
                      - your network settings test comes back without any problems
                      - a website refresh or website purge and refresh has no effect on the problem

...I would therefore come to the conclusion that the scripts are not being uploaded to your FTP space at all (although I stand to be corrected)

Personally I would propose the following solution:
                      - do a backup (in case what I'm suggesting makes things worse rather than better and I have to go into hiding!)
                      - go to C:/Program Files/Actinic v9/Original and group the files by type. You should then highlight and copy all the .pm and .pl files from within this folder
                      - then go to My Documents/Actinic v9/Sites/Your Site and paste the files you've just copied into here, overwriting any that may already be in there
                      - then, within Actinic, try doing a website refresh again and see what effect that has

It sounds to me like it's lost the original scripts for whatever reason. Someone may have deleted them accidentally but it's hard to tell as you've inherited the site but give this and go and see if this works. Post on here to let us know how you get on.
                      Cheers
                      Stuart

Hi Stuart. OK followed your suggestions but now my network settings are failing - if it's not one thing then it is another!

It passes the initial test, then pops up "Your Catalog URL appears to be invalid. The files.... etc". This seems to be a common problem on the forum with many people putting it down to a hosting issue. I've tried (what feels like) every combination to try and get this path right, but the original settings I had are

                          Hi David,

A couple of things spring to mind here that you could do with checking.

                          - have you ever checked the folder permissions in your FTP space? If you're able to login and right click on the folders (cgi-bin and acatalog folders mainly) and see what the permissions are. If they're not set to 777 then try changing them to this. I have seen some people on here advise against doing this for the cgi-bin but I do it and it often solves a lot of problems. Actinic support often suggest you try this to resolve network testing issues too. Once you've changed to 777 (if they're not that already) try doing another network settings test.

                          - the other thing that came to mind looking at your last post is the SSL settings. Are you sure you've got this right? Looking at https://www.authenticindianspice.com/acatalog/ it doesn't look like this is working correctly. Have you checked with your host that this has been set up and is working correctly? Has it ever been working that you know of? Again, if you are able to FTP to the SSL side of your server then you might want to check the permissions on the main folder and cgi-bin folder as it looks to me like nothing has been uploaded.

Give this a try and post back to let us know how you get on.
                          Cheers
                          Stuart
