    OK!

On the Windows 7 Machine I uninstalled KIS 9.0.0.7.3.6 and everything worked perfectly.

I installed KAV 2010 9.0.0.7.3.6 (ie the anti virus only) and everything works perfectly.

Kaspersky are working on a fix (as per the Kaspersky forum thread referenced above.)

I uninstalled KIS 9.0.0.7.3.6 from the XP machines

I installed KIS KIS 9.0.0.4.6.3.en-uk on the xp machines (you have to tell it not to download the newer version from the server during install) and that seems OK.

If you want to completely remove Kaspersky run the removal tool after uninstall through the programme.

I guess I'll stick with KIS 9.0.0.436 for the meantime then.

So Elliot, do you have the same problem?

There is a thread on the kasperski site about an old java add-in slowing things down IE. I was wondering if the same thing might be affecting actinic.

The solution was to disable the java SSV Helper plug-in in IE>Internet Options> Programs > 'Manage Add Ons'

Apparently the Java Plug-in SSV Helper is an add-on that is no longer used by the latest versions of Java but is a remnant that they need to uninstall but haven't. It causes the slowdowns in IE7 and IE8 because of the tabbing feature.

It does sound like there's a more general problem with KIS. It seems they're working on a fix but haven't released it yet.

Oddly I see a different thread to the one in the forum above (that link doesn't work - possibly because they've merged threads). This one should http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=138476

Well I only brought KIS last week and installed it on all of pc's. I can not remember how long it took before.

It does take about 15 sec

I just open IE8 (as I never use it) and it does the same on loading up.

I did what it said but it only speed ups IE8 NOT ACTINIC.

Looks like I am taking of KIS. I only had it 2 days and i am having problems already.
              Never mind

Kaspersky have now released a patch that is supposed to fix this problem. It should automatically update existing 9.0.0.736 installations to 9.0.0.736(a).
