    SMTP Server Problems

    Hi,

    We're doing work on behalf of someone who uses Actinic v9, and apparently his "contact us" form has never worked. Turns out the information entered was incorrect (no surprise).

    However, we've now entered server, username and password information that is usable by an ASP.Net script that we used to test the server (i.e. we received email sent via that server), yet Actinic itself seems to think that the server isn't valid when we test it from within Actinic, and it still doesn't work when we upload the website, or even refresh the entire thing.

    Any thoughts?

    are you using the SMTP server for the domain ie mail.domain.co.uk in network settings?

    have you checked your host supports SMTP auth?

    have you tried localhost?

    is the email defined in business settings also on domain?

    do you receive emails when there is an order?

    sometimes the network test will fail but email still works - have you tested that scenario?

      We tried localhost- it worked.

      Though it still doesn't really explain why the settings we had before weren't working. I assume that Actinic has its own SMTP server of some form that works when you specify localhost(?)
