We did try a couple of years ago going with HSBC and due to the 5-6 stages of checkout process as well as the mandatory 3D secure code on all cards on their site, we've had not sales for around 3 days.
When we went back to Paypal, sales starting once more straight away and we abandoned the HSBC checkout alltogether. If i remember well, the customer was leaving the site in order to pay for the goods. I've tried to integrate the checkout process into our site but there were so many issues at that time that I thought let's get back to paypal pro for now.
It is however an issue I need to look into properly.
