    ok,
have created a new file /public_html/shop with permissions set as 755

it has not created a file for cgi, so i am adding a new file set with in /shop called cgi-bin, with permissions set to 755

That's correct, if you mean the folder anyway (as opposed to 'file') - the permissions on the 'cgi-bin' folder should also be 755, yes

do i need to create an /acatalog folder too?
as this is suggested in many threads ive read and i find if i don't do this it creates an /acatalog folder inside the cgi-bin

No, I don't believe so... although to be honest it's been so long since I went through all this that I can't remember with 100% accuracy

But I would leave it for now, as I'm pretty sure Actinic creates that for you when you run Network Setup - and if not (and you get errors) you can always create it manually later

Create your new FTP account, set the home directory as your new 'shop' folder, re-enter all your new settings into Network Setup/Wizard, etc in Actinic, and let us know the result!

Incidentally, I strongly recommend using the Wizard initially, and ticking the box 'Configure New Network Settings'

I feel this will minimise the possibility of erroneous settings relating to your old setup details, which are now no longer valid of course

I would also leave the 'Confirm Each Setting' box unticked, for now at least

Yes, that should be fine, for now

You can change it later when your shop's up and running, if you like

ok here we go, the first error lol

after clicking next from setting up the directories i have an error message reading>

an erro accurred while sending HTTP request to the server.
perhaps your network is down or web server is down.

Server is not down as i can see it in ftp and can see the folders etc.

                          any ideas?

Try closing and restarting Actinic (sounds daft I know) - you might have to re-enter the new settings again having done that unfortunately

Also, can I confirm that you left the online store folder name as 'acatalog' ??

My earlier reply about that was a bit confusing, sorry about that... I've edited it now... it should be 'acatalog' - not 'shop' or anything else

I thought i was going crazy as i was sure it said to change it to shop lol lol

ok will restart actinic and try again.
                              back in a few minutes
