Shipping Changes Required - Actinic Legal Issue?

My site enables the shopper to select shipping based upon weight. However a shopper has to act responsibly and select the correct insured shipping value based upon order value as well.

Taking the following from this thread http://community.actinic.com/showthr...4710#post44710 :
"The distance selling regulations are very clear that the customer has a cooling off period that extends up to 7 days after the delivery of the goods.

If the goods don't arrive then it looks to me as if he can cancel the order and you'll have to provide a full refund."

This implies that the legal obligation is upon the retailer should the goods never arrive.

Somebody gave me a link to these t&cs not sure how valid their stance is.

I take it that what you want is to be able to create a shipping table that combines weight (to work out the shipping cost) and order value (to cover any additional level of insurance).

Maybe Actinic could add this to the wish list.

Many thanks for your comments Adam. I have passed them to the development team via the wish list.

I want it to create a weight/insurance matrix. However I want to be able to either recommend OR exclude OR force certain services. Each Actinic user will have a different requirement.

I think the important thing is that the customer has the 'best' shipping service selected, but they can optionally select another service.

I am still trying to get the legal viewpoint as per the local trading standards officer. I still am unsure if the selection of shipping service is a legal instruction from the customer to use a specific service

          Chris,
When will we see this feature implemented? It is impacting on my business as we speak and if insurance value could be added into the weight shipping as additional criteria for v7.2.1 then this would solve a major legal headache.

I believe the only sensible path is to exclude those shipping services that do not cover the insurance of the item.

Hope this is 'simple' to implement.

New features like this one are not trivial to implement, and will require specification and discussion internally before we can even start coding.

you can edit the order of the shipping classes so you don't just get the cheapest one selected first. You can sort them alphabetically. This knowledge base article describes how.
