Froogle UK Actinic or Not

Hi

I have used the Mash, still getting errors back from Froogle.

I sell records so have a number of items that say 12" for example. I have added another " so it says 12"". Is this right?

Also, I use CUSTOMVARS for label and release year. Can the Froogle feed handle CUSTOMVARS?

If you open the feed produced by Jan's Froogle Mash in an html or other text editor you should be able to see fairly quickly what's happened to the customvars. As far as the "s are concerned, Actinic adds the extra one required to prevent it being seen as the end of that bit of content ( and jan's froogle mash does the same) there should be no need to add any extra yourself. I would recommend doing a 'find & replace' to replace """" with "" throughout.

I uploaded my feed to Froogle yesterday and this morning my report says 'success with errors' but it doesn't show any line errors and all the products are shown as being successful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I also have lots of products with " in them.

Just to give you all a quick update, I uploaded the .txt file yesterday afternoon, after changing some of the prices due to the custom VAT. It came back today with only one error about an extra line, I sorted that today and uploaded it.

Fingers crossed i'll be on Froogle soon.

I changed the "" in the feed to 'in' so my records are either 12in, 10in or 7in. I will try the "" next time, i just want to see it live once!!!

Some of these posts say that they have been told that they are successful but with errors. My last feed said that (still waiting for the 'in' feed to load). What sort of error detail does it give you, the impression I have is that it tells you specifically, but the only messages i have seen are the faq ones.

I think that you get success with errors (but with no error messages) until your feed has been approved. Mine was approved quite quickly (within an hour) but from looking at posts on here it can take up to 5 days.

Jan (and Actinic and others)

I have a quick question on the feed settings for Froogle. Should the 'quoted fields' box be ticked or not.

The default is 'not ticked' and that's what I used, but looking at the feed data all the content fields are 'quoted' (i.e. within " and ") except for the URL.

The example feed google shows has no quotes around the fields so I'm a bit confused about why we seem to have a hybrid format with a bit of both.

Any thoughts?

The quoted fields option should be ticked for an Actinic feed, for two reasons :

1) Actinic puts quoted fields into the feed file.
2) You can put tab characters into your product descriptions and if you don't use quoted fields then your feed will not upload as the tab will be interpreted as a field break.

If you hadn't guessed our Froogle is working properly, slight problem with the name at the bottom of the product details.

OK. Using quoted fields is fine but then shouldn't the URL also be in quoted fields?

I've just looked at the input and output files from the froogle mash and the input file (from actinic) has quotes around the url but the output file from the mash doesn't.

Another little bug ?

I was of the opinion that the quoted field option only applied to the description fields and so took the quotes out of the URL, price etc, so I wouldn't call it a bug, froogle are accepting the generated feeds so I'm not going to worry about it.

Seems fair enough. I just get confused knowing which options I'm supposed to select when the feed is neither one thing nor another. Strangely enough, it looks like it's accepting my feed which I'm sure I uploaded with the quoted fields box unticked.

hi, well i see my original question was popular.
Anyway, my froogle feed has today gone live after several emails to froogle, they had a bug where as my UK store was showing as a froogle USA store for some strange reason. All is showing up now aprat from my images but i guess thats for another day !

hi, well my 30 days evaluation has expired now and still no news from ACTINIC on when an update is due or expected. What is ACTINIC's response to this feature is it going to be updated or not. How about some feedback please.

I understand your frustrations, but the Froogle UK site only went live after 7.0.2 had entered testing, and we won't introduce any new functionality at that stage which could affect the stability of the product.

Expect to see the feature included in a future maintenance release.
