Sending base files
07-Jan-2005, 02:37 PM
Hi, When I try to update or refresh my site the process gets to "Sending base files then seems to lock up and time out! I have tried ticking the box for using passive FTP transfers but still no joy. Can anyone help???
David.

What happens if you manually FTP in to your site using a separate FTP Client and try uploading any old file into the acatalog directory?
Cheers!

I don't know how to do that at the moment. I could do with a quick fix solution.

Quick fix is to establish FTP is working on your server.
Open a dos box (if on windows XP, click start > run > cmd)
Do the following:
cd\ [enter]
ftp yourftpserveraddress.com [enter]
give it username and password when it asks for it.
Change directory to acatalog...
cd acatalog [enter]
hash [enter]
put boot.ini [enter] (if not on winxp, then "put config.sys [enter]")
If no error messages appear then FTP is working succesfully so you can rule that out.
Cheers!

S'likely the FTP Daemon on your server had stalled and one of the server techs has spotted and restarted it then...
Cheers!
