Need Product Page Help

This link explains how to have a compact listing of products (with add to cart buttons) that then link to a further details page.

Chris - i'm getting nowhere here - i'd like to try out the option in quotes above. If i'm understanding things properly that would mean that I could keep my (fairly) compact layout, then when you click on a product you would go through to a page just for that product (like on www.venus365.com or www.tiggypig.com).

I've tried to doing as your link suggested - but I keep ending up with the same as i had before, but with a longer section tree.

OK - I'm not entirely sure how to procede with this. Do you have a site for me to look at? What's it looking like at the moment? Which part of the instructions are not clear?
