the point here, is that I want to re-instate the snapshot (the data) back to another location (in this case, my H: drive or something like it.) so the question is
How do I actually restore the data back to another location OTHER THAN the default "c:\ . . . " location. ? are you sugesting that the entire Actinic installation is re-installed in to another location and then import-snapshot is then run, if so, it dosn't really answer the question "how do I move Site1 to another location ?"

No, I'm not trying to be a clever programmer, I just want to seperate the actual programme from the actual data, I'm not on about snapshots and backups, just the physical separation. (traditionally, this was considered to be "good programming practice") - I do take regular backups (snapshots), often 4,5,6 times a day, and those backups are also copied off disk frequently, there's nothing like losing your data.
