    I've very rarely had to take a cheque: I don't accept them at the checkout because I don't think I want the hassle. Only once has a customer 'phoned me and asked if they could send a cheque. That does not prove anything other than that one person was motivated enough to do so. How many would-be shoppers I have deterred I cannot say.
    Do you offer cheque payment as an option? Could you possibly say whether it makes that much difference?
    I offer payment via PayPal as well as WorldPay, and find that PayPal provides nearly one-third of transactions.
