Prices multiplying by 100 on our site

we have a problem on our site whereby if you chioose to buy a custom option of a specific item, it multiplies the price by 100 resulting in us charging £70,000 for a single mattress for example.

in more detail what happens is the customer can select a specific headboard which comes in a standard colour. if this is ordered in the standard colour then there are no problems. however if the customer uses the drop down menu to select a different colour and then adds this product to the cart, the price multiplies by 100. i think the problem may lie in our database but i cannot find it. i know how to correct the prices individually manually in actinic, however we have 17000 products so it would take far too long. any help would be appreciated. cheers

You can use Access to look at the Price column in the Product table of your ActinicCatalog.mdb in your site folder. Remember these are pennies, not pounds. Click on the column and then sort descending to see how many products are affected then close the table and answer no to the prompt to save the new layout.

Once you know how big the problem is, then you can look for a solution.


It sounds as though you have done an import from excel at some point and accidentally multiplied the price by 100 twice before importing.

thanks for that. ive had a look in Access at the product table and everything looks fine, however in the product FORM the prices are in fact 100 times higher than what they should be.

an example is:


product code: ARR50B
short description: 5'0 Arran in antique brass Bedstead
price: £72,339.00
price (including vat): £899.99

however in the product table the price reads at 72339, which of course is in pence.

Do you have an URL to look at? What does your Act_ProductPrice.html template look like?
