No no no to the warehouse clearance image on the homepage Looks like a wee bomb proof building

And it does open up the discussion of light coloured (and small) text. Seems to be an in thing nowadays but is it hard to read by all? I've no problems reading it myself but...

aye, ignore the content as I just copied out another site that is maintained by my boss, just so I had something there to see layouts etc...

I know how terrible all them images are, will change them as I start putting the real products in over the next few days.

I find it fine to read and i havent got the best of eyesight, also have a look at the print preview, I have setup css printing soi it should print slightly larger and in black, with out the header and the navigation etc...

im just improving the template for www.bathroomexpress.co.uk as that was my first mod, this is my 2nd and hopefully it should be easy enough to just port over to any site when Ive finished

oh and cheers for the mail George, will try now =]

        Graham,

Why not pass the searchscript URL in the cookie. This would save a lot of user configuration and would deal with all possible variations.

This URL is usually available in the Perl global $::g_sSearchScript (defined in Actinic.pm) - on my test server it contained "http://inferno/cgi-bin/ss000756.pl" which is spot on.

I tested this with a bit of code in ActinicOrder.pm but I'm pretty sure it's available in Cart.pm too.

Ooops, I thought George was the originator of this thread. I've changed my post above to "Graham" now.

It's a really neat patch and does something that has been missing for far too long. The only consideration is that cookies have a finite length (4000 bytes I think) and that this could lead to problems for massive shopping carts.

Still not working for me, but I will start again now to see if I made a mistake.

Also how big is a standard cookie? How big would the cart have to be to cause problems?

                Hi Norman,

Thanks for that idea, yes it would save a lot of hassle for everyone by fetching the search URL from the .pl files.

I had noted the finite cookie size also, so as discussed above I could include a cut-off limit where, if reached, the summary would revert back to the simple display.

I'll take thse things on board and put a post here if there's further revisions.

@ whirlex, I have updated the .zip file after emailing George, so if you're still having problems download it from the site and try it again.

Looking at your pages, there's a Javascript error caused by a line break you must have put in accidentally.

In the actinicextras.js file find the line that starts with

                  str+="<tr><td valign='top'>"+store[0]+"x </td><td><a href= ....

Shift the line below this up to form one line again, hopefully that will sort it.

I'd also add a small guide to adjusting the actual size of the output, and the number of letters shown. For us non-educated types of course.

                            Hi Graham,

I too have been trying to get your Full Cart Summary working correctly, but seem to have problems showing the information.

At the moment things are still running as they used to. I have followed your instructions and have checked the cgi-bin path and script numbers in actinicextras.js, which seem to be ok.

Not too sure where to go from here - any help would be appriciated.

                              Graham,

The JavaScript you use in actinicextras.js fails if you have a script-id of more than 9 (and some sites do). It's easy to patch but my earlier post regarding passing the SearchScript URL in the cookie might be best.

Thanks for the heads up Norman. I haven't looked at this patch for a while, so maybe when I have some time tomorrow I can look at integrating the URL. I'll post here once I've made any changes.
