    Digital Downloading

    Hey There,

I am a complete newbie to this Actinic programme, and im looking for some help. Basically i want to offer the ability to sell Mp3s on my shop, and i want it set out like this store.....

    http://shop.lowliferecords.co.uk/aca...al_Extras.html

When the customer selects the mp3s using the check boxes, and then adds to cart, it then adds each individual mp3 up to give a complete total. It also allows the user to "mix and match" from different cds and select songs. When the user has paid for it, the order confirmation is sent with a link to the downloads,

How can i setup my store like this in the exact same way?

    I am using Actinic Business.

    Thanks

      Hi,

Thats pretty cool - the way they have it set up for individual mp3's. We only do ours on www.trustmeimathief.com as full albums. I would be interested to know how this is set up - i would imagine you would not be able to do it with the limited 25 product version though as every mp3 would be a product.

The only off putting thing i found with it is the necessity to have to put in the quantity. Who is going to order two copies of mp3's with out drm built in??!!

If you want to mail me at andy@trustmeimathief.com if there is anything else i might be able to help you with i would be glad to help and perhaps excahnge info - or mp3's!!

      Andy

The site is using a basic Actinic function.

A product is set up with numerous components set as "optional" and either associating to another product or set as NONE. The prices tab is set accordingly with the "master product" set as £0.00 with pricing as "Sum of Component Products"

Thanks Jont for the help. I have set that up accourdinly to what you said, but my next question being, how is the mp3 related to each componment? and how is it setup so that when the mp3s have been selected, they add up the total amount to be paid, then send a receipt, with the link to the download?

also forgot to say, that when the user is going through checkout, how do you make it so that the user doesn't pay shipping? Otherwise the user ends up paying shipping for a download lol

5mins turned into 40mins due to the forum being down - thankfully took a copy of the text before it killed the reply....

                ***********

OK... just got the following to work.

Under View | Business Settings | Ordering | Digital Downloads set to ship automatically and exclude from shipping.

Create a new product track1 - set price and the digital download and tick "auto ship" - set to "hide on website"

                repeat for track2, track3, track4 etc etc

                Create a new product Album1

set price to ZERO. Right click and "add new component"

                component name = MP3 1
tick - component as sep order line
                tick - is optional

click on the down arrow next to "associated product" and select the track1 product created and hidden above

                tick - use assoc prices
tick - use ass product tax
                tick - use product name

add the other tracks as new components to the Album1 product

these then go through the cart and appear as bboxes to be ticked and as separate lines on the order confirmation with links to each to click and download.

I have my shipping set to weight so I was charged shipping as I did not set the shipping band to 0kg = £0.00 and set the track1, track2 weights to 0kg

                HTH

I have my shipping set to weight so I was charged shipping
Interesting comment - the online help says the exemption will apply to both weight and quantity shipping. Is it broken?

Possibly as it is a component - it works with no shipping charge when set as a standard product ... not when as a hidden product component .... not sure if a bug or I have missed something .....

Thank you sooo much it worked perfectly!!!!! My last and final question is, is there a way of testing your actinic store, so that you can buy the product, pay for it, and see if the whole process works? e.g. receipt etc? But obviously not really pay for it lol

Again thank you Jont for finding this out for me....really really apprechate it!! i think i should marry you lol (joking by the way lol)
