the cgi-bin url is the web address of the cgi-bin. It would normally be www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/
I have no idea where the barseao7 stuff is coming from and suggest you get support from actinic. They can log into your server and see what's going on. There's a limit to what we can do on the forum without the relevant information.
You can contact actinic support by phone if you have cover or by form here http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm

Same problem
I am getting a similar problem - my hosting people assure me they can do no more to help me that all the setting are correct and I have full rights to the cgi-bin! but i keep getting the following msg:
Actinic is not able to run the CGI scripts on the server. It appears as if the scripts are not installed. The most likely cause is that you have an incorrect CGI-BIN URL. If you've never uploaded the site, then you should do it before a download of orders. If you've uploaded the site ever, then Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration
The web server returned error code 404 - Requested URL not found. This means Actinic can not execute the CGI scripts on your web site. Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to check the web setup.

It is most unlikely that you need arbrownlow.com in the PATHTOCGIBIN setting. Try changing that in Advanced | Network Setup to only read /cgi-bin/ then press the test button.
Also, why are you using an IP number as the website URL. Unless you have a dedicated IP, this will point to a different user on your hosting provider each time, and would break your site anytime there is a DNS change. This is where you would normally have http://www .arbrownlow.com (without the space).Bill

Thanks Bill - the hosting people told me to put it in this way. However I did as you suggested and got the following msg
Unable to move to the cgi-bin directory "/cgi-bin/" on the FTP server.
The specified directory does not exist or you do not have access to the directory.
When I ftp into it I can see it is there and they told me its not a rights issue...

@Lee - when you ftp in exactly what is the path to cgi-bin. Draw out the layout showing base level folders against the left hand side and sublevels preceded by dashes like this
logs
private
public_html
- acatalog
- cgi-bin
@Seanix
Sorry, but as Mike says, without having access to actually explore the server, there is not much we can do. (Please DON'T post your web access settings here - this is a public place)Bill

The website url is wrong too. That IP address is not the same as your website url. It should be http://www.arbrownlow.com/

Hey everyone......I just wanted to let everyone know that I managed to upload the website.....
I contacted the host again and explained what I wanted to do with the website, he then told me that I was on the wrong account and put me on to the CPANEL account ( runs off Linux ) as soon as it changed over it uploaded without a hitch....i hope this helps some other people in my predicament.
I am now trying to find out how to set up the SSL with HTTS:// address ?
Also does anybody know how I can connect with Credit card merchants in Australia to get Actinic to do on the spot credit card approvals ??
Once again, big thanks to the people who reply to us newbies...

Try a google search for acatalog and .au and lookk at/contact the sites you find to see how they manage it.
On the SSL - is this a dedicated certificate specific to your domain?Bill

Import Network Settings
Hi I think I'm going mad - I have the same problem as the others in this thread - moving to a new host.
Does the file with network preferences to import have to be actually resident on the host (it is at the moment) - or can I use a local file?
I presume it should be a .txt file and here it is - but the import process says it contains no valid data field

Is this correct for the following hierarchy, and can cgi-bin work in the following location?
webname

- cgi-bin
Two other pieces of information: I don't want to resolve it to www. yet because it needs to be tested, and my host manager says you need to know it's PLESK.
Please help.....
