Warning: Some of the configuration variables were not found in the HTML templates. If you modified these templates, make sure the results are what you want. If you have not modified the templates, the files are probably corrupt. Try restoring them from a backup or contact your Actinic reseller or Actinic Support as appropriate.

    Act_SearchTemplate.html SEARCHPROMPT, RETAILONLYWARNING
    Act_Primary.html ONLOAD
This should not show if you have performed a clean install of Actinic - does this show on the new PC?

Concentrate on the new PC at the moment and get the default Actinic store to upload. DO NOT import the snapshot.

It stiil sounds like the uninstal on the old machine has not been completed correctly as it is referencing the modified files from the snpashot.

Is the software you got from the designers a boxed copy with an Actinic issued disk?

Uninstall the software and download the software direct from the Actinic website - the disk you have does not seem to be working correctly.

Yes it is a boxed copy with registration key. The emails we have received from actinic have stated that the export of the site was not done properly as they had problems with ms access not closing before the export which has now been sorted and i have a link to the new snapshot.

I will try the above as you have suggested before i try anything else but i think the problem must be with the snapshot of site is it not?

But anyway i will try the download from site first.

          Cheers

If you are installing a copy of Actinic on a PC that has not had Actinic installed the snapshot will not affect the functioning of the software. Importing the network settings and uploading the site will install the default Actinic settings and website onto your server.

Can you confirm that you are only using the Actinic disc to install the software - you do not need any other disc or link to files supplied by your designers.

Yes i installed actinic then i was given a cd with snapshot of website to import as well. Since all the problems we havnt used that i have had links from them to (save target as) save to desktop then import into actinic.

This all sounds very odd - i have never had Actinic fail to install correctly. The errors you are getting seem to indicate that the templates have been changed but this should not be possible on a Actinic issued disc.

I would certainly be very unhappy with my designers as they have failed to deliver a working website, which is I assume what you paid them to do. There is nothing here that I can see would be caused by the Actinic software.

Thankyou I will be contacting them tomorrow as yes I have paid them back in February because they wouldnt send the software until I paid which I was most unhappy about. As now I am in the situation of being under their beck and call re problems really.

                  Cheers

From reading your posts I'm still not sure just what you have done so far.

What Malcolm is suggesting is that you completely uninstall Actinic and any other software given to you by your designer - then download Actinic from the website and install again (only Actinic) and enter your key. Actinic should then open without errors. If you get this far it will prove the Actinic software is OK. Only after getting that far can you consider importing a snapshot. When you say the snapshot is now correct and you have a link to it - I presume this is from your designers?

Let us know how you get on with this and we can hopefullly help you with the next steps.

What I am trying to get over is to load the standard Actinic site onto the server to prove the software. I dont suggest loading the snapshot as it is obviously corrupt - once the site is working with the standard Actinic store, create a snapshot so you can fix any problems caused by another corrupt snapshot and not have to go through all this again. Then pass the problem back to the designers. They should be able, if they have designed the site correctly to upload the new website and give you a new snapshot. If it fails again then you will have a snapshot which will put the website back to the standard Actinic

If that fails then I would suggest you ask for your money back!

Surely this is back to front - THEY should be at YOUR beck and call, because YOU are the customer.

Problems with your designers aside, have you manged to confirm that a fresh install of Actinic works ok without your designers snapshot? If so, then you can find the version number from the main window's menu under Help | About.

                            If this works, then try importing, not the snapshot, but just the network settings you exported earlier, or you can fill them in manually. The freezing during upload error;

sounds like your local install is not communicating properly with your hosting server.

is a problem with your snapshot, although you may be able to ignore it if your designers have got their code straight.
It looks like your search box will have no prompt text, and your button images will not preload, so they will flicker noticably when your users mouse over them. These could be stylistic tricks though, your cart can function without them.

                              Hi Opelfox,
As I understand it, you can use the 30 Day trial from http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/downloads.htm, just give it your serial number to unlock it.
                              Whoops, double posted again.

Yes if you can get this uploaded then there are no problems with the software.

http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/downloads.htm Will take you to the download on the Actinic website - get the trial software and unlock it with your Actinic Key.

I repeat: do not go anywhere near any software your designers have given you. The aim is to put up the Actinic standard store and then let the designers sort it out.
