    Error on preview page v7

    Please can anyone help. On the preview part of the page when entering catalogue information, instead of showing an image, it shows "x" and the information from the short description of the item, not the reference number even of the image.

    The preview page also on occasions does not alter to the current page.

    Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Have you been editing any Templates? Sounds like a broken image tag in a template.

    Look in Act_ProductImage.html and see what's there. You should have
    Code:
    <!-- ProductImage HTML begin -->
    <!-- This file is used to build the product image markup. -->

    <IMG SRC="NETQUOTEVAR:IMAGEFILE"
    	  ALT="NETQUOTEVAR:ALTERNATETEXT"
    	  BORDER=0
    	  NETQUOTEVAR:IMAGEHEIGHT
    	  NETQUOTEVAR:IMAGEWIDTH
    	  NETQUOTEVAR:OTHERIMAGEMARKUP>

    <!-- This file is used to build the product image markup. -->
    <!-- ProductImage HTML end -->

      Norman, Thank you so much for your reply. As far as I know I have not been working with any templates, as quite honestly I don't understand them.

      I will try and find the information you have given, and report back.

      Kind regards

      Shirley.

          Norman,

          Located it, and found the wording identical to the wording you gave. Any other suggestions please?

          Shirley.

            Shirley,

            Can you try copying over the images into the 'Preview HTML' folder within your Site1 folder and then check to see if the images are appearing or not. Are the images you use in teh Site1 folder or on a location on your hard drive?

            Kind regards,

              Bruce, the images are in three different folders. Depending on whether they were acquired from the web, scanner or camera.

              I also now have another problem -message came up this morning -
              Error extracting step8 from C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\formats\Navigator Skins\QuickStartGuide\Skin.zip. Directory ..... failed. Panel 7 cannot be displayed. It is either missing from the Skin definition file or the definition is invalid.

              Please help

                Bruce,

                I have taken a copy of 4 items and put them in the Site 1 Preview as suggested, but no improvement.

                Sorry.

                  Shirley,

                  For the error message
                  Error extracting step8 from C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\formats\Navigator Skins\QuickStartGuide\Skin.zip. Directory ..... failed. Panel 7 cannot be displayed. It is either missing from the Skin definition file or the definition is invalid.
                  Go into the 'Formats\NavigatorSkins' folder and open 'skin.ini'

                  Change it so it reads...

                  [DefaultSkin] Default=Default Navigator
                  B2BDefault=Default Navigator
                  BrochureDefault= OrderManager
                  Default=OrderManager

                  [DefaultTemplateNavigator]
                  Framed=TNCatalogWithFrames
                  UnFramed=TNCatalogNoFrames
                  BusinessFramed=TNBusinessWithFrames BusinessUnFramed=TNBusinessNoFrames
                  Save and exit.

                  That should get rid of the error.

                  As for the image issue, can you try compacting your database and then checking to see if they appear in the preview. I would also check the image paths and file name etc. Have you selected the image through Actinic using the 'Browse' button, or did you just enter the destination url or are any of these hard coded intot he templates?

                  Kind regards,

                    Bruce,

                    Thanks again.

                    I will try and carry out your instructions as above.

                    Please can you tell me how to compact the database. I have tried checking the image paths, but they appear OK. I have in some cases selected the image through the browse button and some through the destination url.

                      In Actinic go to Housekeeping | Compact Databases | Select both options and proceed.

                      Kind regards,

                        Bruce,

                        Found how to carry out your first instructions, and altered "QuickStartGuide" to Navigator.

                        On the second problem. Found the Compact Database button, and did this. Checked the image path and these seem OK. What do you mean by "hard coded into the templates" please. I do not understand the templates and therefore have left them alone!!

                        Shirley.

                          Bruce, went back and selected both buttons for shipping as well. Complete successfully. Still no change.

                          The Preview Page is extremely sluggish, and often stays with the previous clicked item.

                              after i'd read the responses, its actually unlikely, that the issue will arise from bad hardware, so i deleted the post. but its happened to me
