Help So Many Problems. Cant Even Upload Shop Properly

    Hi there,

i'd really appreciate anyone's input with this problems.
I made a main site with an index.html which i've connected my home button of the Actinic Catalog to.
after i set my network settings and uploaded the shop came out like this
    http://www.merlinsgrove.co.uk/cgi-bin/shop.html

please someone have a look and tell me what's went wrong.
I mean none of the script works.. the images don't appear.
Everything's spirialed downwards. I'd e-mail some technical staff and yell at them but there is no one to e-mail??
please help! im at a loose end!

The first thing to do is to let us know your network settings.

Go to Advanced / Network Setup and Export these to a text file. Then copy / paste the contents of that file into a reply here.

Make sure you delete any passwords before you submit the post.

The other thing that's useful is to tell us who your web space service provider is.

Your store root is at http://www.merlinsgrove.co.uk/acatalog/shop.html - you should edit your home page to point the Products link at this. However, it may be better to rename this page to index.html (Design / Options / Site Defaults / Base Page Name).

The problem with Checkout failing is due to a problem in switching to SSL for the checkout. I'm not experinced with SSL so perhaps someone else can help.

I also see a corrupt layout when doing View Cart. It looks like the Primary Template used for these pages needs fixing.

There's no SSL on the site

                type in https://www.merlinsgrove.co.uk/acatalog/shop.html

                and get error loading page.
Whay method are you using to take payment?

Yeah we are going to take the credit card details via capture and then process them later then mail out the products.
thats what we plan to do..
i dont know how we are doing SSL.
i thought Actinic used its on in build SSL which was made in Java?

if you are going to download CC detail you will need an SSL certificate which you don't currently have.

The problem is you have told the software you have one so it is trying to find the orderscript at https.

For testing purposes go to payment and security tab and take the site out of SSL.

Now ask freecom to install an SSL cert for you (there will be a cost for this), or use Actinic inbuilt encryption module (free)

Read our page about payment providers to give you more background knowledge http://www.pinbrook.net/actinic_payment_methods.htm

So im going to use the Inbuilt java applet for a while and consider updating to an SSL later. few questions,
how many people do you think will be excluded by using the Java applet?
how safe is it in your opinion?
                      COuld it break?

Ok ive managed after a bit of tweeking to get the checkout working using the java encryption. Which im happy with, it seems really safe and welcoming. Im getting orders sent successfully when i test it and the e-mails send out quickly.
However, like the other gentlemen pointed out earlier the basket area seems to be some sort of hybrid with the other old corporate design, i've seen the pictures in the 'site1' folder that make up that old design, why are they there anyways? i choose the Astrolgical theme then customised it a little with replacing the buttons with runes that i made then added my own background. Should i just replace those images by changing thier colours or deleting them or what? I was thinking about editing them in fireworks all together to see what happens?

Thanks i read your article.. it seems safe. I've done a few testings and it seems fine. But i was asking ,.'in your opinion' how do you feel it is in regards to safety. Also could you recommend a good method of fixing my basket page as its visually all broken apart.
