Big companies seem to rely on us small people crawling back under our rocks and being quiet.

Did you try asking them to switch APC on anway?

In my case it is looking very likely that the problem is with my host. Try asking your website host if they support scripts that post to https urls. Dont worry to much that you might not understand what it means, just see if they say yes or no.

After Persuading the Nochex Support staff to get their technical people to call me, I had a really good conversation with them. resulting in successfully tested the Nochex APC function from my website. The only change was HTTPS to HTTP. From this the Nochex Techy guy was fairly confident that the problem is with my host not supporting 'posts to HTTPS sites'

All I need to do now is find out what my host needs to support posts to HTTPS and ask them to do it!

    Hope that helps

I just knew it was not an Actinic problem!!

From the Linux Dev help forum
If it's perl, you probably need the relevant ssl-versions of the perl libraries. In debian these are either libcrypt-ssleay-perl or libio-socket-ssl-perl.

hmm they are not helping though as they dont mention anythign about SSL support being required in their system requirements.

Over a month ago I asked Supanes whether they met the requirements of
        [quote
        Web site:

        * NT or UNIX/Linux server
        * Perl 5.004 or later; MD5 Perl module recommended
        * user writeable CGI bin
        [/quote]
        http://www.actinic.co.uk/products/ec...e-software.htm

        and they said yes.

If this is the problem it would have also helped emmensly and saved us a lot of time, if right from the begining they would have said 'check whether your server supports posts to HTTPS sites'

I do appreciate the names though, thank you. Can anyone from Actinic confirm that my server needs either or both of those installed? Is it a case that it depends on the flavour of Perl being used?

Personally I'm starting to suspect it's all down to nochex customer services actually just being a bunch of telesales staff with a list of FAQs.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if all they need to do is turn APC on, but no matter how much I explain that Actinic is supposed to integrate itself, all they do is send me links to their standard 'integrate the checkout' page.

Looks like Nochex doesn't always notify payments to the site. Seems we found a payment that didn't get put through on July 21st. Not sure if the actinic callback url fails or the customer doesn't manage to get to the receipt page many report browser crashes when returning to the nochex site.
Nochex people don't seem to know what they are doing either.

              Hi Caite

With regards to your question about what you should do now, it could well be that your problem is related to Pete's in which case when we find a solution it will be posted here.

If you would prefer a more personalised service, I suggest you post your own email support question and just keep half an eye on this thread for anything useful that crops up.

                Pete, Caite (and all)

I have closed the following threads on this subject:
                http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=22172
                http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=22612
                http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=22607
so let's now just use this thread to discuss the problem and look for solutions.

Just FYI Actinic development are also working with Nochex to figure out what is happening here.

                  Hi

Any ideas how they are doing? They emailed me asking for the Nochex telephone number at about 2:45 today, but we are still waiting for a responce.

                    Thanks Chris

I'm going to go for the technique of avoiding meddling with anything more complex than html for now. Don't want to break anything more than is already broken

In the interim, can anyone tell me what I actually do to manually mark the payment as made on my nochex sales? can't seem to find an appropriate button.

Select the orders tab in actinic, double click the order to open it, go to the payments and progress tab, click view payments, then add new.

Thanks Bill. That works better than my original work around of getting a pen and crossing out PSP Pending on the invoice and writing in 'Paid in Full'!

What happens if you just send them any old URL from your website and say thats what they want so switch it on? Then when they do go to your Nochex control panel and delete it?

I agree the whole situation is very poor. We have at least got a merchant account which means we have our own telephone person. She admits to not being technical, but in the end understood that it would be much faster to let me talk directly to their technical people. The technical guy was very helpful. But the problem remains unsolved, and the only suggestions being made ie change to Protx, change host etc will take weeks or days. and all the time we are loosing sleep and money
