    SMTP problem please help!

Hi there, I've been having a problem setting up Actinic Catalog 7 to work with my SMTP server. I'll try to be as clear as I can here. First, my Network Settings:

    HTTPPROXYMODE 0
    HTTPPROXYADDRESS
    HTTPPROXYPORT 80
    HTTPPROXYUSER
    HTTPPROXYPASSWORD
    FTPPROXYMODE 0
    FTPPROXYADDRESS
    FTPPROXYPORT 21
    FTPPROXYUSER
    FTPPROXYPASSWORD
    SCRIPTID 1
    SCRIPTEXT .pl
    SMTPHOST smtpout.secureserver.net
    WEBSITEURL http://paintedpixelstudios.com
    IGNOREPASSIVEERRORS true
    USERELATIVECGIURLS false
    PATHTOPERL /usr/bin/perl
    USEENHANCEFTP true
    FTPCLIENTTIMEOUT 15000
    FTPRETRYDELAY 3000
    FTPSILENT false
    FTPMAXRETRIES 3
    FTPCONNECTTIMEOUT 25000
    SMTPAUTHREQUIRED true
    SMTPUSERNAME
    SMTPPASSWORD
    CATALOGURL http://paintedpixelstudios.com/acatalog/
    CGIBINURL http://paintedpixelstudios.com/cgi/
    PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../acatalog/
    CODEBASE ./
    FTPHOST ftp.paintedpixelstudios.com
    FTPUSERNAME
    FTPPASSWORD
    PATHTOCGIBIN /cgi/
    USEPASSIVEFTP false
    FTPPATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../acatalog/

According to my customer service rep, "I get invalid SMTP server name when I try to test the network settings. The username and password also doesn't seem to work.". Located here is a pic of the program's system setup, SMTP is in the lower right: http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...oblem/SMTP.jpg

Even though she says it returns an invalid server name and login, the weird thing is I'm using these same settings in Outlook Express and I can send and recieve my SMTP mail just fine. Unfortunately, my Host is being of little help. I've come to the forum in the past when I've had troubles, and there's always knowledgable and helpful people here, so I hope someone can help me out.

    Thank in advance!

Who is your host? - Someone else may be using them and be able to help.

Have you tried unchecking 'Username & Password Required'?
smtpout.sercureserver.net returns smtp.starfieldtech.com - does this ring any bells?
Also I see that smtp.secureserver.net responds - you could try that instead also.

      I'm using GoDaddy.com

If I uncheck username and password I get this error:
The computer you specified as your mail server is not a valid mail (SMTP) server. Check the computer name or address and try again. If it fails again, then it is possible, you were locked out by a firewall program, or you don't have network connection to this server.

and under test results it says this:
      communications: failed
      authorisation: passed
message: Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts.

If I try using smtp.secureserver.net, with password and username unchecked, I get the same initial error, but the test results say this:
      communications: failed
      authorisation: passed
message: sorry, relaying denied from your location

and with username and password I get:
      communications: failed
      authorisation: failed
message: SMTP Authentication is not supported by this server!

And with localhost as the smtp server name and authentication unticked - what happens?

I get the same error message, but in the test results, everything fails.

Send me your network Settings as a file, in Advanced | Network Setup, click on export. Save as an attachment and mail to me at bksupport at actinic.co.uk. Will need to test this.

Most probable cause is that your host has not allowed mail forwarding to other domains. Is this SMTP server address provided by your Host?

            Kind regards,
