    serious bug V7

i know that this is probably a V8 question, and i'll get a slap on the wrist but...

In V7 for me, there is a nasty bug. I'v previously looked into this, here on the forum, and since then, We've just been using the workaround, which has gotten far too painfull to continue with.

Make a product, then attribute, then, plenty of choices, in our case, it's sizes of inline skates and shoes.

now, we change availability on sizes, on literally a daily basis. This means some days we add and delete many many sizes. We usually hide them, then upload, unhide, add, and delete the choices on lots of items.

    It breaks them.

some days there are errors, 'invalid combination' or some such thing. Where its messed up the order of the items and perl scripts get passed the wrong stuff, then no one can order that item, and if they can actually add it to the cart, the wrong size goes in, and before you know it....

... well, people complain, they got the wrong size.

our workaround, is to make a blank product. cut the list to it. paste the list back onto our original product, then upload.

not good! has anyone here had such an issue, and (the reason i apologised earlier) does it happen in V8?

The difference with v8 is that the drop down lists can list 'permutations' and not just 'choices'. i.e. it lists all the choice options and prices from the 'Permutations' tab in the component. And then in the Advanced User Guide is a fix to automatically hide any out of stock permutations (i.e. permutations whose associated products have gone out of stock).

Does this sound useful to you?

well, it sounds like the corrupted html list issue may have been addressed in in V8, and we are set to upgrade.

but where does that leave V7? could someone investigate the corrupt html issue? sadly, we dont have an example, becasue we correct them straight away, but rest assured, next time one happens we'll post it.

Yep, I have this problem too, especially if I cut and paste a size range (for instance) into a new product. Only way I can fix it is to delete all the components and premutations and regenerate them manually!

This is exactly how we deal with it too, and for items that need to updated daily, its mighty annoying.

Is this bug also affecting V8?

i know about the permutations, but is the way actinic creates the html for the pages the same? borked?

            Gabriel,

Your question on v8 was answered on post #2 by Chris. v8 makes this process a lot simpler.

            Kind regards,
