maybe split it into 3 different websites? If people are looking for a niche product maybe they think you are too general?

How about setting aside a few days with no distractions, and putting your phone number in big numbers across the top of the page, as both a sales and query number. Then sit back and wait for the calls. The feedback you get may be worth the couple of days you spend on the phone... if people keep phoning up with the same questions you'll know where to conentrate your efforts. if nobody phones up at all then maybe there just isn't a big enough market...

I've not done the above but have had a few customers use the live chat facility on my site and have been surprised at some of the odd things that they think - and with a lot of them if they had not talked to me and had their questions answered then they wouldn't have ordered (and I would not have known why people abandon their carts)...

You're correct Kes regarding the navigation section links - to be truthful I didn't notice it too well. I was drawn to all the subsections which I (not being a lighting type person) found very confusing. Like Titan Luminaire and Liteway Bollard for example.

On a different note I just placed a test order on your site (sorry) and went into Nochex to make payment. The Nochex page showed the Nochex account login only without option to pay by credit card - do you know why that is? I'm sure you would loose sales due to that - people don't want to sign up with Nochex first. On our Fancylines site for example the Nochex payment pages shows the fields to make payment by credit card as the default. I think it would be worthwhile looking into why that is.

and another thing - where's all your contact information?

it is there but it is hidden in a really whacky place! I can't see how to get to it from the home page except by choosing 'contact us' then selecting 'click here' to bring up the form, then 'terms and conditions' appears in the menu bar and if I click that then I can see your address/phone - not eactly easy to find!!!

and then it's in tiny writing, and no address, no ltd company, and no company bank account ("make cheques payable to K.Earl").

It all screams 1 guy working from a kitchen table, and personally I wouldn't buy anything expensive from a site like that unless no-one else sold it...

I know exactly why that is.......

We have only just sorted a merchant account with nochex and i restricted the limit to 150.00 for the moment as most of our orders are under this.

The customers who buy industrial/commercial lighting (larger orders) usually contact us and set up bank transfer for payment.

In time the limit on nochex will be set higher once more orders come along.

We was debating on 3 sites for the different lighting range, but we notice people who we're originaly looking at horticultural lighting for example...noticed we also sold x y z and bought that too.

If youre right that people who visit your site know what theyre looking for, then i'm not sure why your not getting orders.. are you competitive ?

If people are just browsing then i think the site feels a bit unfriendly.. not sure why, just feels a bit complicated. like.. i remember a bit about horticultural lighting .. ahem! but found myself a bit confused about the different types, envirolite .. pro series etc its almost like theres too much choice!
on the pro series page, you get that choice of wattage.. then the different set ups.. all a bit confusing to me. Maybe it should be the other way round, with wattage as the last choice and the bulb etc first?
I'd look at simplifying the site somehow. sometimes too much choice is bewildering.
BTW is that basil growing on the ebook page?
            Best of Luck

I'd agree with the above post, the site is built for people who know what they are looking for. I always think of this that if they know what they are looking for, they will more than likely already have it. Although repeat orders are great, it's new customers i am after.

The section names mean very little to me, i am no expert on lighting and i might not be your target audience, however if i ever hit your site to look for a light, i would leave quite quickly as the whole name and amount of choices is just overwhelming.

A prime example would be "security lighting", i recently installed 2 of these at the back of my house to light up my patio and work as security lights. I only know them as security lights, i found them on your site after a few minutes called maxiflood, that means nothing to me and something i would never search for.

The first site in my signature had a similar problem with regards to its product range being so wide and vast. My answer to this is images, with broadband now pretty common, you have a license to have slightly longer to load pages, but hugely improved navigation. I would personally scrap the actinic home page and build your own. Note in my example that the home page is designed by me and links through to the actinic pages. I am not saying this is fantastic in all cases but on this site it has been a huge success. I think your site could benefit from a similar graphical navigation, rather than vague section names which mean very little to most.

Register a sitemap with google and register a froogle feed. Work on your page titles too, they are not used to the max they could be. Do some search engine investigation and find out how many people search for "security lights" against how many search for maxiflood etc.

You have some good products with good information, prices are competitive i hope - so something must be wrong. Whatever you do will not be an immediate fix.

From your posts i sense a real frustration and i have been there, but i have also come through it and smiling on the other side. Scrap the current design and start afresh with a fresh new idea. Often by amending little things and tarting things up, you still get the same site. You ave the hard work already done - compiling the products. All you need is some back to basics and some new ideas.

Target audience is key also, you could have a huge security company looking at your site and your next visitor could be a 24 yeard old hippy with a loft full of Mary Jane growing. There are exceptions of course, however these 2 types of people will rarely cross paths.

I think it was mentioned previously that the cheques payable name is very unprofessional, yet you quote £1.5 million worth of products in stock. However true this may be, i just don't believe it.

Its sometimes harsh to take comments that may dismiss all of the hard work you have put in. I sense from your posts that you are right peed off and i have therefore been direct with you. I hope it is taken in the light it is meant.

You also have 120 validation errors on your site. Actinic will never be perfect, but it can be far far better than that.

              Good luck
