    Poor Image Quality

All our images are saved as 500 x 500 and the extended image is excellent quality, but when they are shrunk down to the thumbnail size the image is poor.

We used to resize the images ourselves, but now actinic does it. A good example of the poor image is

    http://www.porreda.com/acatalog/porr...me_pieces.html

and our home page is http://www.porreda.com

Sorry if it doesn't make sense, but I was wondering if there is a way of shrinking the images with better quality.

    Please help!!

If you allow the browser to resize the image you will always get poor results ... for best quality you need to do this in an image app such as Photoshop ... or you can get very tricky and use PHP to resample .. probably best to do it in your graphics package though. You can set batch conversion to resize everything inside a given folder to the correct size to save doing it all manually.

How are you defining your product images Nicola? Not the extended ones, the product ones.

Looking at all the images they are coming from the same file name (extended, product, section thumb) ... so probably using a set height and width in the product image template and section template to resize from the single image as defined in the pop up.

The product thumbs are better than the section thumb but show signs of jaggies due to on the fly resizing.

Yukkety Yuck Nicola, 2 images per product = best formula by a mile.

Can your forum avatar have an extended popup? you look rather dashing....

There are few of us who take the time to be the voice of the silent many, don't persecute us for voicing the opinion of the masses, we are merely the self appointed spokesperson.

                      Oh yeah

Back on topic, when you have many files to resize, we love the batch process in PS or FIREWORKS, makes it a doddle. (or is it doodle )

Always best to resize yourself as JT states

                      Regards
