Images not showing in the brochure pages

Hi, i have just uploaded my new web site for the first time, its not finished yet but when i checked it online the images within the brochure pages are not showing just a red cross and the alt tag text. For example i have using a brochure page put some extra shipping information on the home page and have put in some information explaining to people what will happen if the post man is unable to deliver the parcel and under the text inserted a picture of a royal mail calling card and it dosn't show up and this is the same with all the other images throughout the site but only in the brochure pages. all of the product pictures, extended pictures etc all work fine but none of the brochure images. i have put them all in site 1. I have selected text and title option and put in this code:

!!<<B>We will despatch your order the sameday! - </b>>!! If you order before 4pm then you will qualify for overnight delivery, you can expect delivery according to the following schedule:

my guess is that you haven't included these 'missing' images in your 'additional files' (Advanced > Additional Files) so they're not uploaded for Actinic to call them?

More like they are not stored in the site1 folder and so will be referenced to the harddrive and not uploaded.

which is surely the same thing? If they're not in the site1 folder then putting them into the additional files is the 'fix' for this, right?

All well and good, but your customers are going to view it online not on your preview screen. Not in site1, not referenced properly or not in additional files are the top problems in this area.

If you want to check the images work ok online, add them to a product to test. This can eliminate problems with the images themselves.

PS - you don't need to copy your own post into replies.

As a general rule for images: always keep them in the site1 folder or a subfolder of site1 and whenever you reference an image with embeded html then you also add it to the additional files list.

NO - as duncan and lee says images should always be kept in the site 1 folder - using the aditional files route is very time consuming and may not solve other problems with images which are outside the site1 folder. There are multiple threads on this subject and its about time this was put in the user guides etc

I know..and I agree. But for some reason a lot of people don't use the site1 folder to keep their images in (and it's only something I've recently started to do...well...recently as in last 18months lol.. it's comparative!)

It certainly should be a basic rule to keep them in the site1 folder but it isn't well documented in the user guides and it always comes across as a 'recommendation' rather than a 'rule'

How many people even read the help/getting started guides though?
Maybe Actinic shouldn't allow you to reference outsite of the site1 folder? It'd be a thought!

With V7 it is a rule but V8 is a bit more clever and can track the location but again they should really be in the same place as the rest of the site.

interesting you should say that because V8 shouts out and protests a lot more than V7, if the images aren't in the site1 folder, IMO.

I think V8 actually makes it harder (and rightly so) to leave images outside the site1 folder.
I often had images outside mine in V7 and earlier and, as long as they were added to the additional files, never had any problems this way.
I agree it's a more time-consuming way to do it though.

The bottom line is put them in the site1 folder - easy

Hi, all of my images that don't work are in my site1 folder. Thanks Anthony.

Ive added them to additional files and then refreshed website. To be honest i am not quite sure what to do at the moment, iv'e been reading the help topics but can't suss it out.

In the help topics is this part, does this have anything to do with the problem. I have clicked the ''use as website home page'' check box.

. Notes about the 'Use as Web Site Home Page' box
When you tick this option the 'Page Filename' will be automatically changed to 'index.html'.

                              · Only the 'index.html' file will be uploaded to the directory level above the '/acatalog' directory. All other brochure pages, including images, will be uploaded to '/acatalog' directory.

                              Thanks. Anthony
