Solution - ok, turns out the host is moving some sites from one server to another so it is a DNS issue.

So now we know what it is, but that doesn't help with the downloading of the orders.

no, it doesn't..although it's possible, if you can find a location/computer still "seeing" the old site, you can download the order there.

Was easier for me because the office was (and still is) seeing one and home the other..not so easy to hunt one down though

Restarted Actinic & managed to download 5 orders. Only 2 missing now.

How can you read the ORD files ?

            Many thanks

For what it's worth, had you known the IP address of your old hosted area (and your new hosted area) you could have alternated downloading between the two by changing your local PC's HOSTS file entries to route your PC to the relevant IP address.

[note: will only work if the old and new hosting areas are still configured and running]

I've been doing this over the last few days..my office internet has been the last to "catch up" with the change (72 hours!) and I've been having to do this in order to check my site changes etc
Mind you, it didn't help me download my emails!

but anyway...what I wanted to add was...the above "solution" is a good one..but it'd would have helped to have known beforehand that the change was coming and got the details from your host!

It certainly not helpful to only find out about it when things stop working

yes, but by the time we found out the cause the urgency had passed - I did the orders manually from the info in the confirmation emails and decided it was easier just to wait til morning and hope it sorted itself out.

Which it may or may not have done as I can't actually seem to ftp to the server at all now...

On another note, have you ever considered simply splitting your catalog?

take your major sections and split them off to seperate domains/subdomains?

you'd not have to compromise on structure much, but your uploading could be much simpler and quicker.

                            ah.

                            Just took a look.

your products are all categoryless, lol. you're a bit stuck, arent you?

ok, back to the original problem - orders not downloading.

The move is complete, the DNS is sorted, I can see all the ord files... but...

only the recent ones have downloaded, leaving a bunch files from yesterday still on the server. I can still see the .ord files sitting there. The only thing I can see is that the ones that downloaded had .ord and .occ files where-as the ones that didn't just have .ord files.

What is the .occ file? is that the payment?

oh wait, there they are. they've all gone into pending and lost the payment files. great. now I have to manually change them all. grrrr...
