    Unsettling error!

When trying to upload or download I get the following error message and the task aborts.

This a fresh install of Version 7 from disk then updated using the 7.0.7.0.0.0. patch.

    The error message simply reads:

Payment service provider, PROTX, failed to register properly - class ID ({AC060015-43EE-11D2-9520-080000511272}), and roughly the same for PayPal.

    Here's the clue:
I have two versions of Actinic under the Program Files directory - Actinic Ecommerce v6 and Actinic v7.

If I completely remove the Actinic Ecommerce v6 directory, then try uploading or downloading from Actinic v7 I get the above error message and the task fails at the Checking files... stage.

So, I shut down Actinic v7, replace Actinic Ecommerce v6, restart v7 and hey presto it works again!

This tells me that it is using something from v6 that cannot function when v6 is unavailable.

To pursue this theory I need to find the task that is accessing v6.

I want to seperate and remove v6.

Any suggestion, comments, help would be appreciated although I think this issue might even challenge the experienced or professional programmer or coder.

Had the same problem, support suggested: *Before attempting any of these changes, please take a snapshot of your site as backup* Solution is to manually reset: Close Actinic. Locate the ActinicCatalog.mdb from the site folder. Open the table, OCCVersions. Locate the version column. Set the Version column to 0 (zero) for each provider and close Access. Run the PSPSetup.exe and then open actinic, the site PSPs should be upgraded during start up.

Thanks peblaco, I will certainly try that. It sounds spot on actually. I will let you know if it works. Fingers crossed.

Finally got Microsoft Access on board and ran with your suggestion. I think I screwed up at pspsetup.exe. Instead I incremented the OCCUpgrade.ini file which launched the pspsetup prior to Actinic opening.

I think I should have run it from the Installation Disk? Now I'm not sure. Anyway, after the update things went a little strange. Somehow the OCCPROTXScriptTemplate.pl which contains the Encryption password was substituted with the original file, after uploading the changes my payment gateway was denying access because of an incorrect password or coding error.

Everythings back as it was now and I still need to seperate the 2 versions, but how should I run PSPSetup.exe after modifying the database?

Are you saying it is all working except from the fact you need to put in your details again, if not just run the pspsetup from the install disk, this will add the psp's to actinic, all blank as if a new install.

Dont edit the DB again if it is working, this was a suggestion to get you started and to clear the problems

once done apply the protx info

I have a slightly different way of re applying my protx info

          increment the number by one
restart actinic - it will do its thing
make the changes to the protx file - security key stuff
          then upload

            Unsettling Error!

            Thanks Darren,
I restored the backup I made just prior to the DB change, so everything's back as it was. So if peblaco's experience is to work for me I have to change the database again. No problem. I just got to check that all key entries are correct before I send it up again; we cannot access our psp without one of these.
            I'll keep you posted.
