    General Script Error

I've looked through the knowledge base but am unable to locate a fault described below which has occured today. (Inicidentally I have used the software for some three and a half years now without too many problems, so this is a bit of a bind).

I had an order successfully placed on my site this afternoon, and two e mails from would be purchasers who complained that the catalgoue kept either giving them a General Script Error or throwing them back to the index page of the catalgue.

Having tried it myself several times, along with my ISP, this is the error message we have received.

    Error: Error deleting ../acatalog/213Z106Z18Z71A1073927168B13832C0.cart =
    (No such file or directory).=20

I've uploaded the entire site and checked it on the server - all appears to be OK.

My ISP suggests that the problem is being caused by the a file generated by the pressing of the confirm sale button, not being found by the software to continue with the sale process.

Having checked the file structure on the server I can confirm that the files are being generated, they really are there! but the software is failing to find them.

Any suggestions/help alternatives would be gratefully appreciated.

I think it is due to Norton Firewall on customers PCs.

There is a fix forthis on the Actinic download site

Just try it with Zone Alarm Pro turned off (if you dare) - (just right-click the Zone Alarm Pro taskbar icon and choose Shutdown Zone Alarm Pro)and see if the fault goes away. If so it's the same issue as Norton Firewall and go for the latest patch and firewall, fix. They're both firewalls, after all.

          Thank you Norman

I did as you suggested - turned Zone Alarm off - and the so and so software started to work again properly. Switched it back on and started to get problems.

Why should it have worked for so long so well, and now - equally as suddenly - start to give me heart attacks!

I will attempt to put in the fix, though as my ISP knows only too well, I am no software genius.

          Thanks again for you help.

          PS Nice monkey suit!!

          Ammendment to the above.

Just been to try and download the firewall fix.
The site says I should not download it until I have 4.1.1, I only have 4.0.0 at the moment (and having paid just over £400 a couple or so years ago - have no wish to throw much more money at it).

The site instructions tell me to download 4.1.0 first before 4.1.1 and then the firewall fix. Unfortunatley it does not give any clues as to where I might find 4.1.0

          Any thoughts?

There is an Old Versions download area on the Actinic site somewhere.

I remember a posting about this recently.

I've had a look and I can't find it so you may have to wait until someone from Actinic notices this.

                  Hi Jo

Thanks for the info. I looked at that one earlier, and it appears to be one of the 30 day trials. In view of the fact that I have had one, and purchased the full 4.0.0 version some time ago, I would be grateful if you could tell me from your experience (and yes, I've had a look at your site) if at the end of 30 days the whole thing is just going to stop working and I will be asked to do a 'Microsoft' at the end of it.

At the moment I am seriously looking at an alternative to Actinic, as when things do go wrong (not often in the past couple of years) they do tend to be fairly catastrophic and the support from the company has been minimal to say the least.

The last time anything happend involved a lengthy four day e mail discussion about the database - in the end they told me that they were unable to open it themselves, and so my only alternative would be to re-install and re-build my entire site.

                  David

The licence key you have covers the patches. All you have to do is downloadthe full version, and if it asks for a key (i don't think it will ) you just give it your exsisting key.

A licence key is valid for all patch levels of one version.

Thank for coming back with the good news Jo.

I don't think I will start doing it at this time of night, I need my beautfy sleep, but tomorrow - is another day!

                      Cheers

                        Ho Hum!

Downloaded and installed 4.1.0 and the patch.
Installed as per instructions. Still getting the same error as I was yesterday.

The really strange thing is though, that on two totally separeate computers today, I was able to use the full site software without any problems, and in fact I received an order this morning from off the site.

Any help/instructions/holidys in the sun/offers to buy a second hand disc would be gratefully received.

                        Cheers

There are three steps to downloading and installing the Norton Internet Security patch, and it is a little confising, so double-check that the stages have been completed correctly:

Step 1) Install 4.1.0 full version

This is available to download once you have registered at: http://www.actinicdownloads.com/v4/4_1_cat.htm

                          Step 2) Install 4.1.1 patch

This is available to download from the same page as above (register at http://www.actinicdownloads.com/v4/4_1_cat.htm)

Step 3) Install the Norton firewall fix

This is just a zip file you can download from http://www.actinicdownloads.com/v4/. You need to manually copy the files within into your Actinic v4 installation (instructions are included in a file called Installation.txt).

                            Thank you Chris.

I may have mentioned before, but I don't have Norton, but Zone Alarm. Is this fix good for both?

                            Well! That was good fun!

Just re-installed the fix, and rebooted only to find that I now get an error message.

A required .DLL file. connectionwizard.dll was not found.

At least last night the programme still worked!

I'm getting a bit desperate now.

                            19.49

                            Getting even more desperate now.

Just opened up my site, and find that whey I try to order anything I get some error script relating to Cookies within IE 5x

                            I am using 6x

Hmmm, the problems you are experiencing are unexpected and unfortunate. I am afraid that I am unable to offer any further support on this as I'm not that familiar with v4. It first shipped three and a half years ago, and so there are not that many people in the company familiar with it, but we'll still try and get this resolved as soon as possible.

I have registered an email support query on your behalf, and contacted the email support team to ensure they get back to you today to resolve it.
