    Error when opening Actinic

    Hi everyone,

It's Friday night before a bank holiday and late this afternoon I encountered a problem with Actinic. I was using another program (Paint Shop Pro) and it froze; Actinic was open in the background and that froze as well. Had to reboot the machine.

Tonight I tried to open Actinic back up but got the following message:-

"Catalog - Internet Sales Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have tried a few times but still get the same error message.

Could anybody help me please? I am desperate - I am presuming that Support aren't open until Tuesday morning and I need to access my catalogue before then. I have backed my Site1 folder up to another machine (which doesn't currently have Actinic installed) although presumably this will be the same 'un-openable' copy as I currently have on my machine!

Many thanks in advance for any help offered, and apologies if I sound frustrated - I am!

This is a Windows generated message, not Actinic's. Your computer is sick. If you have that other computer available, install Actinic there and copy the Site1 folder. It is not likely the problem will move to the other computer as long as you only move the Site1 folder.

If you have a faulty shutdown Microsoft Access will leave the .ldb files (record locking) open. When access tries to reopen it finds the .ldb file already open and goes into a sulk.

I suspect that this is your situation.

There are two databases: ActinicCatalog.mdb and SimpleShipping.mdb.

If you have actinic and the backend databases closed properly then you should not see the ActinicCatalog.ldb and SimpleShipping.ldb.

To test if these are open go into explorer and navigate to your actinic site1 directory. Search for files called *.ldb.

If ActinicCatalog.ldb is found you have a corrupt database. if you have MS Access installed then open it and try to open ActinicCatalog.mdb. It will fix a simple file corrupt.

If this doesn't work then open Access, go to TOOLS on the top Menu (in Access 2000) and select Database Utilities. Select Compact and repair database then browse to your corrupt ActinicCatalog.mdb.

      Good Luck.
