    Paypal Pro examples

    Hi,

Can anyone direct me to a live actinic store that is integrated with Paypal Pro?
I'd like to see how the checkout process works.

I'd like to hear peoples experiences of Paypal Pro and Actinic.

Which actinic version integrated paypal pro?

I'm currently on v7.0.3 which uses paypal website payments standard.. The checkout is a bit tiresom as some details have to be entered on the actinic pages and then on the paypal pages too..

    Best Regards,
    Mark

    You need V8 for PayPalPro.

        and your reasons?

I think Paypal is a very trusted trusted psp.

Just ask anyone down the pub if they've heard of Paypal..

Then ask if they've heard of Protx, sage, streamline, worldpay or anyone else.

As I say on this thread, I think theres a lot of snobbery about paypal in webshop designers..

unless of course you have real reasons to feel this way about paypal.. if you have , please share.

PPP draw backs and failure to comply with PCI DSS - but then i have a feeling you will never see the negatives with your one and only PSP.

I have a number of reasons why paypal does not rank as the best psp and most reputable company, as for giving you a long list i really cant be bothered.

And snobbery has nothing to do with it, but then i guess you seem to think that a web designer must be a snob? If thats the case were do i fit in, i am not a web designer and i disagree with some of your comments?

Paypal Pro is entirely different to standard Paypal Website Payments. Us snobby web designers love standard Paypal, even those of us with the most turned up of noses. I must attend that library of knowledge they call the pub one day. Paypal Pro has been a pink elephant since its birth, it looks rubbish, it's confusing on the page and it is not PCI compliant. Need I go on?

                Thanks Pinbrook.
Thanks Leehack for your more considered reply.

As for Darren B... touched a nerve have I?

Still no examples of a live integration though..

Im lost, you asked a question i gave my answer, i also asked what catagory i fitted in, you implied people who dont like paypal were webdesigners and snobs, i am neither so wondered how this fitted in your people group?

It does not comply with PCI-DSS (Check my sig) which is why most site owners aren't using it and web designers aren't recommending it.

Many of us have tried to tell you why we think (and that's all it is our thoughts) that PayPal should be used along side another PSP, but you aren't even listening.

I'm listening, I just haven't heard any convincing arguments as to why this should be the case.

                          Read this:
                          http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=45030

Also this is mentioned on the page you referenced at Paypal (https://www.paypal.com/pcicompliance):
If you’re using Website Payments Pro, Payflow Pro, or Virtual Terminal, consult our free guide to help ensure that you’re PCI compliant.
I believe Paypal (standard) is in a growth phase but it depends on your customer base and the products you sell.

If as you say you have many US customers then obviously it may benefit you, but Paypal is not so common in the UK as it seems to be in the US.

On sites that I have designed, I see on average where a PSP and Paypal are both offered, that Paypal is used around 20-25% of the time, the alternative PSP (usually PROTX, Worldpay or HSBC) does the rest. That is a statistic that is simply impossible to argue against IMO. That does not mean of course that given only Paypal as an option, 75% of people would sod off, BUT, even in your most biased view, you could not expect all 75% to use Paypal. Therefore, contrary to your belief, using just Paypal cannot save you money, it quite simply has to be costing you.

If you are happy with Paypal Pro and you are confident it is PCI compliant, go with it though. At least your cause championing the small guy against the big guy can prevail. Personally I favour the think big, aim big and be big approach, taking particular notice of how the powerful sites have succeeded.

However, I am more than willing for every successful site (let's say 60k+ turnover) that you can show me that only offers Paypal as a payment option, I will pay you £1000 each. For everyone that does not, you pay me £20. Deal?

Deal... you already owe me £1000.
and the site I'm talking about is on Paypal standard..
