Yes, but is there another fix being worked on at the moment?
    Thanks

It would be weeks anyway if not months if there was.

At present, the only options available to solve this problem are as follows:

        1) Apply the fix explained in this KB articles:

        http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=48463

        2) If that does not work / cannot be done, you will need to move hosting. The hosting does not have to be Actinic hosting, it can be any provider that meets the requirements, although Actinic hosting is the only provider we can guarantee solves the problem.

Unfortunately, we have still not received details from PayPal of the precise change made, and what their new requirements are. So at present Actinic is unable to make a change to the software to solve this problem, but this does not mean it will not be fixed in a future release of the software.

          Cheesy and untrue.

          Mike

Edit: Ok. Maybe I'm being a bit unfair here but it seems to me to be very much at odds with Actinic's philosophy of developing software that runs on a wide variety of hosting services.

I think you misread what he said and meant...

Tbh we had the option of moving our site to a new server with our old hosting company to implement the changes to solve the problem (we were on a windows server before hand) but after poor support and the server going down one too many times we decided to move to Actinic hosting. Problem has been solved (and the site uploads so much faster, and also the whole site runs quicker. Win win!)

Probably most business hosting meets the criteria, but our packages are the only ones that we as a company are prepared to warrant.

Would you be willing to offer a guarantee on a service that somebody else supplied?

Sure. It happens all the time. I'd happily offer a guaranteed next day delivery service based on Royal Mail Special Delivery. I know it's not the same thing but you've challenged me on an issue so I've replied to it.

I could pick at the details of what a 'guarantee' means and talk about how actinic is proven to work with other hosts, but that's not really the issue I was raising

I just find it uneccesary to talk about a guarantee when it's proven to work on other hosts and to me it smells a bit cheesy like the salesmen who'll try to create doubt in a customers mind when they say things like "Off course if you choose to use XYZ hosting I can't promise you it will work."

Maybe I'm too sensitive on some issues, maybe I dislike cheesy salesmen, maybe I read things that haven't been meant and maybe I use unfortunate language at times. I'm sure I'm guilty of all of these.

I still feel the same way about the post in question so I'm sorry if I've upset anyone but I don't feel the need to change or retract it.

Sorry, I should have added 'without knowing who they are'

                      Help!

I have a 1&1 VPS Virtual Server Hosting Package which I recently moved all my sites to.

I have been reading all the comments throughout this thread and have a problem.

I spoke with 1&1 to ask then to install the necessary components / modules which Actinic have provided in a fix thread but they say they cannot support me and I have to install them myself or ask the eccomerce developer to do.

I went back to Actinic on Friday and they say they cannot support me in the coding or installation of these modules.

So, as I am not a coder then I am between the devil (no offence intended) and the deep blue sea!

I downloaded Putty as per the instructions shown in the other messages and is it possible for some very KIND person to detail for all three modules the exact instructions I need to type on the SSH command line so I can install these correctly.

It also says something about rebooting my server once modules are installed, how do you do this?

Moving hosting is not all that easy for us. We are 1 year into a 3 year contract on a dedicated server. Big costs if I pull out now. Since it is a dedicated server, I am expected to manage it, and am not confident to install the Perl modules, or restart the server. When the contract started, I specified what was needed, and once we were up and running, I thought that would be the end of it.

Also current ISP do not mind how much data is downloaded. I have not seen anyone else with as good an offer.

WTF - your kidding me, nearly all the decent hosts offer a monthly contract on dedicated servers yes maybe some might want a 12 month but never 3 years

what is your control panel? you should not need to restart the server either. linux/unix aint like windows which requires endless restarts

So for me thats good news as I am on a linux dedicated 1&1 server (not needing to reboot server) so just need someone to tell me the detailed line by line instructions / code I need to input into Putty so I can get these three modules installed as I am pulling my hair out at this end !!!!

Take a look at http://community.actinic.com/showpos...&postcount=235 (a post I made earlier on in this thread). You should be able to work with these instructions ok hopefully.

If not give me a shout and I will try to help where possible.
