Invalid path for images and style sheet

When I upload my site, it appears just fine although there is an extra slash in the image paths: "http://www.mydomain.com//acatalog/"

However, when I click 'add to cart' or do a search, the images and style all disappear. It is trying to find them in the following folder: http://www.mydomain.com//acatalog/acatalog/ which is obviously wrong. How do I get rid of the extra "/acatalog/"?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Russell

Could I have the URL of your generated website?

It is www.trains2u.com/prototype but you will need a user name and password to access that directory. Can I PM it to you? (if so, how do I do that?!) Thanks.

I would guess that something is wrong with your network settings, could you post these please (without passwords)

That extra slash may very well cause the error. It should not be there. I would begin by looking at the network settings in your desktop Actinic program. Try to remove it and then do a complete site refresh.

Thanks for the responses. The extra slash doesn't actually cause a problem (although I would like to get rid of it, because some browsers might not be so forgiving) - the extra /acatalog/ folder does - but this only appears when I go into a search or the shopping cart, normal browsing through the catalog is fine.

I have poked around in network settings - whenever I try to remove a trailing slash, Actinic helpfully puts it back for me automatically. I've tried various combinations, but my settings are currently as follows:

              Catalog URL: http://www.trains4u.netshinesoftware.com/acatalog/
              CGI-BIN URL: http://www.trains4u.netshinesoftware.com/cgi-bin/
              Codebase: ./
Path from CGI-BIN to acatalog directory: ./acatalog/ (I tried removing this, but it complained about the upload and download paths being different)
Path to the perl shell: /usr/bin/perl
              FTP Server Host: ftp.trains4u.netshinesoftware.com
              Path to CGI-Bin: public_html/cgi-bin/

              Thanks again,
              Russ.

Path from CGI-BIN to acatalog directory: ./acatalog/
                ../acatalog/ is more likely there.

I deleted all files from my site, changed ./acatalog/ to ../acatalog/ and uploaded again. I still have the same problem.

Running the test in network settings says everything is fine. My website folder structure looks like this:

                  root
                  ....public_html
                  ........acatalog
                  ........cgi-bin

                  Any ideas?

Thanks again for all the responses so far.

I would remove your password protection, and see if that makes a difference.

I just remember a while ago a client of mine having problems accessing her site which was htaccess password protected

                    also path to cgi-bin /public_html/cgi_bin

I do switch off the password protection whilst uploading, and I do have the path to cgi-bin set to /public_html/cgi_bin. Still no dice.

Can you post all the network details so we can take a proper look?

I assume for example that you've set your web site URL as http://www.yourdomain.co.uk and not http://www.yourdomain.co.uk/acatalog/

It doesn't sound like a single error to me. I'd agree with Norman's suggestion above PLUS one other error.

Yes, I've set the url without the /acatalog/ folder.

Attached is a screenshot showing the network settings.

                          Thanks again.

                            Using Setup Wizard

Let's back up a bit before we try a fresh cast. Russell, when you set up the network details did you use the wizard or did you fill in the data manually in the Advanced Network Setup window (the one in the screenshot)? If not then do so. Open the wizard from Web/Configure Web Site Details" and check the "Configure New Network Setting" and "Confirm Every Setting" boxes. Pay close attention to every screen. Now try a site refresh and see if it made a difference. If not we'll go from there.

I tried the wizard originally, but it kept coming up with an empty error box (see attached image). So then I went straight to the network settings dialog and entered the details directly.

I just tried the wizard again. It asks for the ftp details, then the url for the website, then it thinks about it for a bit, and finally comes up with the attached 'message' - except there is no message. After clicking ok, it just bombs out of the wizard.
