Changing an existing site theme

I currently have my own Actinic site, and now want to update my brother www.oakis.co.uk V8 site theme to a more user friendly version.

However his current site will not be easy to change over by just using the design/change/theme, due to the way it been created, and I think it would be...

If I have made such an 4rs3 of a site I am working on and have edited the silver theme beyond all that was sensible, how do I get the basic silver theme back so I can start playing again?

In Actinic v11, as well as continuing to add more up to date themes, we are also planning to retire some of the older ones.

To make sure we protect the most popular themes, I'd be grateful if as many people as possible could complete our short survey into design practices and theme use...
