Hi - one of my clients has a problem uploading. Having spoken to Claranet they have introduced a cap on the website space. Previously there were limits of 100Mb which was never enforced. They have this week starting enforcing these limits but as far as I know this has not been communicated. Therefore when your upload of an Actinic site fails part of the way through it leaves you without a working site.
To resolve this you either pay them and extra £100 per annum to increase to 200MB or £400 per annum to increase to 500Mb - or move to another ISP!!!
Is this the most expensive disk space in the world!!!Regards
David

Additional Disk Allowance
The routine CLARA has in place appears to only check the index.N file for the www folder ... if you don't use the index but use the shop index (acatalog/index.html) you can .htaccess the index.html to acatalog/index.html and get unlimited storage still
Not that I would advocate this kind of action to get free space.

I remained loyal for way too long on the feeling I had that they were more professional than many others.
I'll plug it for you one more time guys - 1&1 Business Pro is cheaper, just as reliable, and knocks claras space and upload limits for six.

Hi Martin - I have a managed server with 1and1 and host some of my clients on there. I would like to host the one site my client has on Claranet on that server but am unable to as 1and1 will not let me register the domain with them. The domain name is www.porscheshop.co.uk. this is due to legal issues that 1and1 had with Porsche several years ago - therefore you cannot register a domain name including the word Porsche with 1and1.
Just to let you know, Claranet have temporarily lifted the web space cap whilst they re-think their strategy - they had so many complaints and threats of people going to go to the press they had no other choice.Regards
David
