NO - I removed it because it turned into a debate - exactly as this one has. What is the point of starting a thread about a very specific subject and it going off track on the first posts.
I had the second post on the original thread last night after Malcolm's - when I checked this morning I found it had been replaced with this one. I didn't know about or see the 'turning into a debate' on that thread (was it in the middle of the night?) but now this one has as well, there's no point in posting an offer which will be buried on the third page.
As Malcolm says, any thread that goes off-topic is really annoying and time-wasting, and it's always the same ones who do it.
Different people have different thoughts, agendas and ideas, and .... the forum is there for the community, not just one person.
Yes, but anybody disagreeing with the content of a thread should leave the original thread alone for those who wish to use it, and start a new one for the debate on the subject?
Mike may like to delete this thread as its totally useless now and cluttering the forum
yes, most of the uselessness from you two!
honestly, let it go already...get off your high horses and the thread might actually get back on track!
I'd post a code of my own but I only have catalog
As I've said before, threads can change and evolve beyond the original posters intent and that's fine with me. Of course if anyone deliberately or maliciously posted to muck up a thread then that behaviour wouldn't be acceptable and anyone doing this should be ashamed of themselves.
Fortunately I don't think this happens very often here.
As for this thread, I guess the digression is because I started it on two themes. 1. The christmas discount offer and 2. The deletion of the original thread. Looking back I can't really see how this thread could have ended up any differently. So my fault absolutely.
Mike
PS. Just for Paul's benefit. The post Malcolm objected to was a 100% on topic post that warned about the potential dangers of posting discount codes online based on that persons experience last year. I don't think there was anything wrong with that. It certainly wasn't any idle chat by the usual suspects.
I think a members only section that doesn't get indexed by Google would be a good idea. This could probably just be the AOB section as it's for stuff that isn't relevant to actinic or ecommerce so I'd think there's no real reason why anyone would want it to be indexed anyway.
Im Glad to see we have resorted to the bitching and winging about threads not sticking to the subject.
Im going to be honest, this is about all anyone actually feels to the need to post about now adays, FFS it was friday, it is in the any other business and if you all actually care to read the original post - Mike was questioning the removal of the original post, this was bound to start a discussion. Which i add that the people complaining about the thread moving away from the subject were apart of.
I am always one to inject a little humour into threads, and to be honest if people now feel there should be none then it aint the place for me. I come here to help, be helped and enjoy it at the same time. Feel free to carry on your crusades to make this an uptight regimented forum, it aint for me
So am I which is why I deleted the thread - pity more people dont do that and get rid of the crap on the forum which is why people cannot get any answers and so post the same questions time after time.
