newest games will require top of the pops PC to work and run without problems.

if you have PC like mine (which is still fast but not the best anymore) then you would have to start with a new Graphics card and go down a slippery slope

Well aware of that, thats why I cleverly threw in the `need not be new` bit. I actually hover between three different ones and ironically my `best pc ever` once upon a time (my one at home), is possibly the lowest spec one now. Strange that, lol. The need for memory and HD size alone is massive even compared to a couple of years back.
