 If unscrupulous webmasters are engaging in a war of promting themselves and demoting each other, the net results ought to be nil.
 
 However, if genuine users are promoting valuable sites for their specific search, and demoting worthless spammy sites, this should have a positive effect on searches for everyone.
 
 I think it could be valuable if Google can analyse this information carefully.

 I'm with Mal. I love playing with new things like this, but I won't use this function. Its not autonomous enough and its just going to slow me down. I doubt many 'normal' people would even think to look at them, let allone press them.  Not that i'd condone or practice it, but it would make it easy to convince a client their results are higher! until they tried it of course.
