Hi, I’m probably the slowest member on the forum and have just read through this post and found it very interesting, I’ve yet to read to infamous 'Ben' post, but I’ll hunt it down and give it a good going over. I'm sure what I’m saying has already been said a million times already, but I feel I must post something.

I've been posting on the forums for a couple of years and don't profess to be a web designer, but am always looking to improve my skills within Actinic and web design on a whole. When I was first introduced to Actinic I was a very daunting task and v7 wasn't the most user friendly version (and I dread to think what the earlier versions were like), but with help from the forums we've upgraded painlessly, got opinions on newer versions before we jump in the deep end and been introduced to other companies devolving plug-ins and improvements to the Actinic and makes it worth sticking with the program.

What I’m trying to say is that I’ve been shot down more times than Gordon Brown has in recent months in this forum, but as stupid as half of my questions have been I’ve gotten replies to my posts and it has all been useful in some shape or form even if the reply isn't the reply I wanted. Just take it on the chin. I mean this community has more personalities than you can shake a stick at and once you've reads through a couple of hundred posts you start to see the personalities of certain members.

I mean we pay Actinic support and I have not used it for some time, but if we are completely stumped on a particular problem I will call them and at the same time I will consult the forum for some opinions. I never demand help, but any reply to a post is better than no reply.

It's abit worrying to see so many familiar names that have consistently been in the forum now leave and that does make me worry for the future of forum support and Actinic on a hold, so I hope Actinic can get it's head together and get just as good admins to join the forum and continue their work. And as for the remaining long standing member and contributors to keep with it and continue with the amazing support, god knows I would have thrown Actinic out of the window years ago!! lol.....you help is appreciated!

Well I’m now going to publish this post as a best selling novel it's that long! haha

    Cheers FrAz

What is going on with the world?

I joined several years ago, made some posts and helped out a few people.
Offered time and full support (for free).

I specialise in SEO and Internet Marketing and browse on here from time to time but I gave up posting a very long time ago due to a couple of prize prats.

For me, a forum is there to provide answers, offer ideas, discuss issues, ask for help, give advice, make connections and contacts, check out new versions, ask for new features, learn about the software etc.

      Two main things which stopped me posting on here;
      1. i was asked for advice, i gave it and then had my work 'verbally attacked' and 'slagged off'
      2. i saw weak posts in their thousands and lots of people giving uneducated answers as if they were experts, these posts were either damaging to sites or a complete waste of time. the weak posts were by a few members who just kept putting one line answers to boost their post score. the answers were of no value whatsoever.

I wont mention the main 'culprit' for this as am not here to stir up trouble, just wanted to add weight to the argument about genuine posters being 'turned' away.

If you are a 'pain' as a user, more good people will turn away or be slow to respond. There is some fantastic support on this forum, Norman, Duncan, Jan are 3 of many (sorry if i missed you) who offer genuine help.

Its not about the nanny state for me, its about people taking liberties and spoiling a great service.
i reached a stage with my postings where I was 'afraid' to post for fear of causing a revolution.

i will now go and have a look for 'Bens' post.

BTW, I still recommend good quality people and service as well as use the services I have been impressed with. Recent purchase from Norman and I push people towards Mole end too.
