Have just completed the Google Checkout in Actinic 7.
See our web site www.topsleep.co.uk
Was fun and its working.
Nicely done, not to sure how you did it, the only question is? will it fill in the address details in the pucker version as i cant see i would be to happy in filling in all my details again
I think it will depend on whether you already have a GC account or not. If you have then all you need ot do is sign in and click pay. This appears to bypass the Actinic checkout completely.
I thought Actinic were going to come upo with an interim solution like this?
I think someone already has posted how to add GC to individual products, the above method seems to have a link to googlecheckout.pl on the shopping cart.
the main disadvantage is that any order that goes through GC will not be downloaded in to Actinic, so it just depends on how prepared you are to manually process these orders. Those who regularly sell via Ebay will be used to having several selling channels so won't be too bothered about this.
Other may prefer to wait for the official integration (TBC) which will download GC orders in to actinic order processing
Agreed . . . It does not throw all the data into the Actinic database. This we can do it we switch to SSL and make some more changes to keep google happy.
As it stands now, it will take whatever is in the cart "Not just single items like a simple html button" out into the Google checkout system . ..
If this PSP becomes very active then we will switch over to SSL and go the whole hog . . We will see !
You should all be aware that Google will require you to have SSL on your sites for it to work with the Actinic database/software in full ! !
As you know this will mean spending some money to get SSL security.
I think a lot of us have made the checkout fully SSL anyway even if we use a secure PSP at the end. Before we did so we got a lot of customers saying that our checkout wasn't secure - and for every one that commented, there must have been many more who simply didn't proceed with checkout.
Fair comment Mark.
To be honest we have never been asked by any buyer for the SSL.
We don't lose buyers in the checkout either, hence never thought of it as being an issue so long as the PSP has good secure SSL.
I might be wrong though and we may lose a few because of it, so we will get this done without delay . . .
After many hours plotting a plan . . ..
We dug deep into the software and wrote one .pl file and another file, both work hand in hand then onto the google server, we sit them in the cgi bin.
Was more about how to attack it than the actual hours doing the code.
And to be honest i pulled in a mate to tie it all together and make it happen . . . So i had to buy a few beers + shots and loan him my wife for the weekend to get him motivated enough to do it . .
