FATAL ERRORS - Archive error 5

    Hi guys

Having tried to create a snapshot - export, have received the following:-

    FATAL ERRORS
(File SnapshotWizard.cpp, Line 674) - Archive error 5 - The compression operation failed
Library error - Can not open file C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Actinic v8\Sites\Site1\ActinicCatalog.mdb ! has been caught.

All I have done since creating the last successful snapshot is to load a patch to create multiple images.

    Any help?

Try a search using the error message or part of the message as search terms - you will see plenty of suggested solutions where this has `been discussed before.

Thanks but did not manage to locate anything other than the suggestion to compact my dbase, which I have done.

if you drill down to smaller parts of the erorr message you WILL find other solutions as well as compact DB

for example "has been caught" and locate a result including actiniccatalog.mdb

        http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=24216

        also try

        File SnapshotWizard.cpp, Line 674
        Archive error 5
        The compression operation failed
Library error - Can not open file
        ActinicCatalog.mdb ! has been caught.

Still cannot locate a solution. Have restarted PC as well and repeated snapshot but no joy.

            Are you using Vista?

Try temporaily disabling UAC and see it works.
If so check that the version of Actinic you are using is Vista compatible. (v850 or above)

                    See here:

EDIT: also where is your site folder located? Is it My Documents or did you choose to have it somewhere else when you installed Actinic?

Thanks for your assistance. I shall read these docs over the weekend. I am somewhat puzzled though that I should suddenly have a problem now, having used Vista throughout the time I have created previous snapshots.

Secondly, I have not been able to export to a csv file today either.

Finally this has happened since I loaded one of drillpine's patches, where I had to import a snapshot to enable the patch. Could this be a factor, I wonder?

its one of those things, just because something worked yesterday doesn't mean it will work today, you could go back to a snapshot you know to work, and then build on that again, or phone actinic if you have cover or raise an email support ticket

Switched UAC off as suggested. This has made no difference.

I think you should perhaps raise a support ticket with Actinic or revert to a previous backup.

                              Will do.

There are obviously some fundamental problems as I am not able to import or export snapshots. Neither can I import new products using a hiercharchical file "update". I have to replace the existing dbase.

I cannot export my dbase either to a file.

                              All major issues!
