We have the issue of 10 - 15 second freezes when changing something as simple as the meta title, description or keywords of a section. I've had a look at the pages which are no different to what we had in v8.5.3 where this was not an issue and we have no additional java script or anything else that is connecting to the internet so it's not that and i've also tried wrapping the google analytics code in a block if as suggested and i also removing the google analytics code completely but this made no difference but if i shut the page preview and edit a meta title, description or keywords it's instantanious so it seems the page preview is the issue at least in our case.

We also run 2.4 quad core intel q6700, 4gb ram, xp pro (sp3) if it's of any interest.

I have the same problem, I have also noticed that closing the preview aids in upload times as well. I recently added a number of javascripts to a V8.5.3 site which rotate the image displayed for some fragments and for products, since then upload times have gone through the roof and I get the same delays when cutting and pasting, again shutting down the preview improves the situation dramatically.

All points to the inbuilt preview system and it is not just V9 there are still problems in V8. I use process explorer from sysinternals to monitor the PC and it is not processor time that is being hogged the system is mainly idle but the I/O is chuntering away which would indicate disc access. The machines I use are all core 2 duo 2GHz and faster with at least 2G of ram using XP Pro SP3.

Throwing more machine at it does work - but not the solution - a large site taking 30-40s to switch between sections now takes about 3 seconds on a Core 2 Duo e8600 3GHz and 4Gb RAM with a 512mb games card in there. It sure appears like the parsing of the HTML to render the preview which is causing issues despite previous suggestions from Actinic this was not the case.

I'm not sure it is parsing of the HTM as the same problem appears with the preview windows closed. All it does is change the triggers for the freezing.

It looks to me like some kind of 'housekeeping' function going on, but the only people who can tell are Actinic. They are looking at this but I'm still waiting to hear anything.

I'd love to see this slowness I must say, i've never once experienced it on any site. It's weird how we all seem to get affected by different areas. Speed on render and pasting has never slowed for me. I can paste sections containing 100's of subs and products with no issues at all. Very strange.

In v8 closing the preview made an impact - this is apparently (on my various installs at least) is not the case in v9

                    Hi,
I bought V9 through an Actinic vendor a year ago.
I could not use V9 then because of the issues that still seem to be issues now.
At the time Actinic stated solutions were only weeks away, I supplied a snapshot and heard nothing from Actinic except that V9 was about to have the ability to upload a single page which for me would have been great...no idea if you can do that yet.

I still have V9 in its box as at the time Actinic said a refund was not the way forward as solutions to the well known problems were just around the corner.
I think I will stick with V7 which I think is brilliant and maybe get V9 out the box again in a few years to see if I can get same return on what I thought was an investment.

It does but you will need to install the latest version downloaded from the Actinic website and use your existing v9 key

                        Cheers Jont,
Thanks for that, you would think that Actinic would keep all purchasers up to speed, they were quick to send me an invoice for a renewal of the support for V9 so they certainly have my details.
The Community has always been far more helpfull and responsive.
I think I will still wait until I see more satisfied than unsatisfied V9 users.
I will then be more than happy to upgrade.

                        Thanks again.

I believe Actinic have identified the problem. There is a short term workaround that works for me and they're trying to get a fix proven for 9.0.4.

Would you care to share what the short term workaround is?

You might be best to get it from Actinic support. I've already suggested they post it on here but maybe there are broader issues.

Did they say what the issue was Mike?
