Froogle UK Actinic or Not

We can't for the life of us get Froogle to accept our feed. We originally uploaded 1500 products and although they processed they were reported as "success with errors"

I have chopped the feed down to a handful of products just to see if we can get them live.

We use the Frooglemash from Jan and it processes the job perfectly.

Can anyone spot why the file below would not work?

Its driving me nuts.

When I uploaded a feed, it also said "sucess with errors" it seems that this initial message happens when you upload the file.

You then have to wait (I waited 5 days) for the file to be processed by Froogle and uploaded. I suggest you wait a few days and see what happens, you will get a message via the Froogle panel at some stage

Having said all of that, do you have " in the feed. I think it will reject products with "

I do have " in the feed but these are put in during the Mash.

Many of our products the size is shown in inches i.e 5/8" or 1/2"

I will give it a few days and see if we can go live or we have a real error to fix.

I can't seem to get past the ftp.. keeps failing with can;t resolve host name ftp://hedwig.google.com Is that what people are using?

Yep thats what we use hedwig.google.com

We use Cute FTP and put this in as the Host address:
Login method: normal
Port:21

Just tried it and it works fine.

Just going back to the use of " in content. The word according to google is:

Quoted fields are indicated by the use of quotation marks ( " ) to indicate the boundaries of data fields. Anything between a pair of quotation marks will be treated as one value, even if it contains tabs or line breaks. Quotes are most often used around the description field.

If you are using quoted fields and the field contains a quotation mark, you must add a second quotation mark next to the first one, to indicate that it is not the boundary of the field. For example, 12" Teflon Frying Pan will not work, but 12"" Teflon Frying Pan will.

Jan, any chance the froogle masher could do this automatically ?

Actinic, please note for inclusion in your own froogle feed export.

edit: I just checked the files and both actinic and Jan's froogle masher add the extra ". So where I started off with one " I now get four " (i.e. """"). Jan can you remove this part of code from your masher please. I don't think it's needed.

All I can say is thank you. We have just signed up to Froogle and I was very worried that I was going to have to input 2500 products. I have not tried it out yet. But as with your lables im sure its perfect

I don't know if you fixed your feed problems but it looks to me as if the feed was using tabs to space some of the content.

According to google:

The following field elements should not be included as part of the feed:

- Tabs, carriage returns, or new line characters - If any of these appear in a field, we will not be able to display that product on Froogle

- HTML tags, comments, and escape sequences - We will try to remove any HTML from your product listings, but for best appearance, you should not include HTML in your feed.

Froogle finally got back to me today with the reason our feed will not go live.

Turns out we sent the feed with VAT exclusive prices. The prices within the feed must exactly match the ones shown on the website. Not a big problem we can write a macro to fix this in Excel.

As we have decided to only upload a portion of our product lines we can now manually change the descriptions etc after the mash has been done.

Try and upload another go later today.

Jan's Froogle mash does have a 'multiplier' function which can be used to adjust for VAT (if you're using a standard rate across all products).

Jan can you remove this part of code from your masher please. I don't think it's needed.

The current version doesn't do this - it was uploaded last week sometime.

I'll have to fix up the tax thing as well to cope with multiple tax rates when I get a minute.

Worth checking this. I downloaded the new version earlier today and it still outputs four """" when there's two "" in the feed from actinic.

Mole have managed to do it again

I managed to upload all of my 2000 products, I had to change some things as the prices where 1p over as we have custom VAT set. I'm just waiting for a response from Froogle now.

Olderscot - you are right you know, sorry about that, I have fixed it up and will upload a new version in the next day or two, there will be two additional features (in the advanced version),

1) you will be able to specify a default product image which will be used for products that don't have an image on the website.

2) you will be able to upload the feed to froogle from the froogle mash program.
