Customer: I was trying to order X from your website and was going to pay with Protx, but there's a problem with your website because Protx redirects to another website and I don't think it's right.
<-- Girl in the office passes the phone to me because she's confused too, erm, what?! -->
Me: Oh, tell me about it. For some bizarre reason Protx has been rebranded as Sage Pay. It's the exact same service with the same features - including a few new ones I believe - but under a different name, that's all.
Customer: Hm, can I pay over the phone?
I can understand that for some people who are familiar (and therefore feel secure or safe) with the Protx brand, it might be unusual to reach a Sage Pay payment page; however I think in fairness, we have the Protx logo on the new payment pages, our current tag line is 'Sage Pay - the new name for Protx' and of course the pages themselves will have the tell tale signs of secure payments (such as the https and the padlock) which I know people look out for while shopping online.
For what its worth; if you have any issue with, for example, repeat customers who are unfamiliar of the change and you feel it might help for someone from Sage Pay to speak with them and explain the changes and explain our security credentials then I'd be happy to do so. I realise that for one off customers this would be a bit pointless but I'm happy to help in any way I can.
Let's face it, putting the Protx logo doesn't give the buyer confidence.
I was walking along the harbour front this evening and a gentleman approached me and gave me a suitcase with a million pounds in cash, for free, for nothing.
There, you read it - but did you believe it? Exact same scenario
