    pmsl..ok, I'll try again!!

I did the disconnecting thing and it eventually offered me the option to upload with http, which I took.
It only uploaded about half a dozen files before stalling again though

Well 6 files more each time is progress Dolly, don't knock it, divide how many files you have left to send by 6, multiply that by how long the process takes and you have a true estimate of how long things will be before you are back online.

If you then divide by 60 to get it into hours and then multiply that by the rate your website earns on average per hour, you can find out how much money you have lost.

It's a damn good job you're a few hundred miles away

last upload actually did fewest files to date, I think..stopping at about A000010-something or another

I'm getting really peeved with having to ctrl/alt/del to close it down each time too..it's wasting valuable upload attempt time.

I had other plans for today...really, I did!

Set three systems uploading all at the same time, whoever quits first gets the bat and then it learns how to fly. Its natures cull, survival of the fittest etc.

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago. Talking it through with support, I ended up changing the CGI script ID number and doing a refresh. Not advocating it - but it worked for me.

              Site Upload Problems

              Hi Tracy

Our system does exactly the same. When it times out click <OK> wait until it times out again click <OK> and the system will offer to carry on the upload in HTML.

Never had an upload fail after this.

              Hope it helps.

                Same problem

I'm having the same problem, seems to have started with the new version of Actinic. I have two sites on seperate servers and both have the problem, it's not a server problem because today I switched my larger site (this one hangs the most) to a VPS package. I was gutted that it never sorted the problem. It took over 2 hours to finally get a complete refresh on the site. It hosts well but I still get the same problem when refreshing the site.
I had been using One stop automation to download orders from both sites every 10 minutes very succsesfully but I have had to turn the program off.
It's making my life hell at the moment.

The latest version of the program can scan the site for orders before trying to download, this can help reduce the load on sites, it might be worth trying this version it you don't already have it.

                    Still having problems!

The extra Mole-end feature sounds perfect I'll install the new version.
I have called Actinic and was told to delete .fil, cat and the contents of the cgi-bin on my server. Then delete .fil .pl .pm & A0000 files from my site1 folder, then copy all .pl & .pm files from the 'original' folder in the C: Programs Actinicv8 root folder and paste them into the site1 folder, finally open Actinic and do a site refresh.

I thought the instructions would make my weekend, they haven't.
                    The same problem exsists.
I upgraded because of the new feature that only deducts stock when a payment has been cleared. My sites were running so smooth with One stop automation retreiving orders, I kept the pc running the business running 24/7.

If I can just get this one problem sorted I would ............. be happy.

Any more advise, this is driving me crazy.

                          Further checks

False alarm. Saturday evening about 18:00 my site refreshed fine I then did 4updates spaced over about 1 and half hours all was fine about one hour later I tried again and although the upload completed it got stuck on a few cat files, I was gutted but at least it hadn't frozen and produced the not responding on the ftp screen.
I then thought about my upload speed and visted a site called www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk I have checked frequently now over a 16 hour period and the slowest speed is 83kbps and the fastest is 172 kbps. maybe this is the problem.

It sounds as though you may be loosing your connection. You could try uploading a few large files using an FTP client and see how it fares.

                              I've tried

I tried a large file and it worked fine, I then tried to upload my site1 folder which was showing these readings in the log:

[13:55:49] 500 'SITE UTIME' not understood

[13:56:42] 550 A00018.cat: No such file or directory
[13:56:42] File size check (SIZE) failed. File not found or permission denied.

[13:56:43] 550 A00019.cat: No such file or directory
[13:56:43] File size check (SIZE) failed. File not found or permission denied.

may be this is the problem.

Does an Actinic network test pass with no errors?
